Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year (1/14 - 1/17)

Grim and emotional - That's how I would describe this week's episodes of Suvreen Guggal. I've barely started watching Suvreen Guggal and this show is already starting to make an impact on me. I went back and watched the series of episodes regarding Naro's ordeal and loved the way Suvreen and Yuvraj joined forces to get Naro the justice she deserved. What I love the most about Suvreen is her fighting spirit. She fights whenever she sees injustice. She doesn't step down just because she is a young or a student or she doesn't have fancy connections. She has the courage to fight for what is right. On top of all that, Suvreen is such a relatable character. She is a normal middle-class girl with normal aspirations.

This week started off with Yuvi's unfortunate stabbing. While Yuvi, Alisha and Jasleen are leaving the lounge, they are attacked by a group of drunks. Yuvi tries to save the girls and in the process gets brutally attacked and stabbed. Alisha and Jasleen plead for help from the passersby but no one helps them. Just then Suvreen calls Yuvi's cell to thank him for all his help during the fashion show. Alisha tells Suvreen about what happened. After speaking to Suvreen, Alisha tells Jasleen to go home since she doesn't want her to get involved with the police or the hospital mess. Finally a taxi driver comes to their rescue and agrees to take Alisha and Yuvi to the city hospital. When they reach the hospital, the doctors refuse to admit Yuvi claiming that since it is a police case, they can't do anything unless the police file a report. The police finally arrive but don't do anything.

Suvreen, Zorro and RC finally reach the hospital. Suvreen is shocked to see Yuvi in such a state. She begs the police to file the report but to no avail. When they don't do anything, RC calls one of his connections and makes the police inspector do his job. Yuvi is admitted and taken to the ICU. Annie, Manu, Naro and Rathi also come to the hospital and are all hurt to see Yuvi in such a state. The doctors tell them that Yuvi has suffered a lot of internal bleeding. He tells them that Yuvi's condition is very critical. RC tells Manu and Rathi to call Yuvi's family and inform them about his situation. While they are waiting in the waiting area, Alisha tells everyone about what happened. She tells them that Jasleen was also there and Yuvi was trying to protect both of them. Suvreen is shocked to hear that Jasleen was at the lounge. She decides to go home and have a word with Jasleen. Annie and Naro take Alisha to the hostel with them.

By the time Suvreen gets home, her parents are already questioning Jasleen about where Suvreen could be. She tells them about Yuvi's stabbing and they are shocked. They notice how distraught Suvreen is as a result of the incident. Suvreen has a word with Jasleen and tells her that it was because of her that Yuvi was attacked and she has to face the consequences of her actions. During the night Suvreen calls the boys and they tell her that Yuvi has been put on life support. She is completely torn and rushes to the hospital. Jasleen feels guilty about what happened but she is scared of getting involved. She doesn't want her parents to know that she was out that night and that she was the one who started the fight. I understand that she is young and naive but come on. She made a mistake and she should have to face the consequences of her actions. What I can't believe is that in the middle of all this she still calls that Vicki guy and asks him for advice. The guy was hiding behind cars secretly watching Yuvi get stabbed. What kind of advice can he offer?

The next morning, Naro tells Alisha that she will have to be brave. She tells her that she is the one who can make sure that Yuvi gets his justice. She tells her that she will have to be a witness. Alisha is determined to bring the drunks who attacked her and Yuvi to justice. Suvreen and the boys go to the police station in the morning to find out about the progress of the investigation. There they are met with a rude awakening. The police inspector tells them that nothing can be done since Yuvi is still alive and Alisha wasn't raped. Suvreen is shocked by the police inspector's apathy and tells him that he is not doing his job. He tells her that nothing will change just because she raised her voice. He needs witnesses to continue the investigation. Suvreen and the boys decide to do all they can to help Yuvi. They go back to the police station with Alisha. The police inspector questions her character because she was wearing a 'short dress.' He also tells them that as per the taxi driver's statement, there were two girls and without the second girl, the investigation will not move forward. The police inspector's apathy sparks a fire in Suvreen. She decides that enough is enough. I have to commend Smriti on her acting! I could totally feel her pain and anguish. From this week's episodes it is obvious that Suvreen still loves Yuvraj. Also after witnessing Yuvi's heroism, Alisha too has started to develop a soft corner for him.

So here's is a snapshot of what happened this week...
