Daily Update: D3, January 31st, 2013

Now that Sharon - the taskmaster is the new captain of the St. Louis dance team, things are moving along. When ReYam, Aashi and Nilesh perform for the new dancers, they are not impressed. Sharon challenges the new dancers to perform a routine right then. They dance all right, but individually. They didn't dance as a group. Sharon makes them realize that they are all dancing individually and not as group. She tells them that St. Louis is sending over a dance team and not individual performers. Sharon's attitude and authoritative nature totally worked in this situation. No one other than Sharon could have gotten through to the new dancers. Also, once again Sharon noticed when Swayam complemented Aashi for her dancing. I definitely sensed a little hint of jealousy from Sharon. Vrushika had the perfect attitude and style. She's certainly turning out to be a really good replacement for Sneha.

Sharon gets worked up during the rehearsals and triggers an asthmatic attack. She rushes to the locker room for her inhaler. I don't understand why Sharon doesn't have her inhaler with her at all times. She obviously needs it and is being very irresponsible. Anyway, Simmi happens to be in the locker room too and comes to Sharon's aid. They share an awesome bonding moment. I'm going to christen them ShImmi. They are quickly becoming the girl version of ReYam! Meanwhile, the confused lot aka the oldies, complain about all the work they have to do to prepare for their seminars. They reminisce about all the fun they had at Indiafest. Cue video montages of performances.

I'm starting to notice that Nikaf, the bboy, is starting to separate himself from the team. I have a feeling he'll give the team a pass and ReYam will have to get the old dancers on board. Wonder if he will poison the other new dancers too? It is all left to be seen...

Here's a snapshot of today's episode...

I have to add the preview for next week looks pretty exciting! I'm guessing that by the end of next week the boys and girls of St. Louis will be in Goa at the Nokia Indiafest...

Can't wait for the SwaRon romance! Finally!

Click here to check out a cute little story on Vrinda aka Taani...

Daily Update: D3, January 30th, 2013

Looks like the Sharon Patao plan worked but not before Sharon gets wind of the plan. Sharon isn't stupid! She can tell when her friends are trying to force her into doing something. She figures out that all of her friends are trying to get her to become the captain of the new dance team. ReYam, Aashi and Nilesh want her because of her leadership skills. They know that she can get stuff done considering they don't have much time for rehearsals. Sharon doesn't want to be involved because she has sworn off dancing. Just when she is about to walk off, Rey comes to the rescue. He creates a situation which makes Sharon aware of the attitude problem that the new dancers have. She immediately steps into Captain mode and takes charge. After all she can't just stand around doing nothing when her college's name is at stake.

The whole jealous Sharon scene was hilarious! It's nice to Sharon being affected by what happens with Swayam. Normally we get to see things only from Swayam's perspective but this time we saw a reaction from Sharon. I'm hoping that this captaincy brings back the SwaRon romance. I'm tired of seeing these two fighting. We also got to see some cute TaaRey moments. I'm liking this whole sing-a-song approach that Rey tries to manao Taani. Most of all it's nice to see Rey happy for once. He has finally moved on and found love again. I just hope they stick together and help SwaRon to get back on track too!

Flashback: Last year this time, Rey was trying his hardest to manao Kriya at the group study which was held at Nicole's house. He was goofy then and he is goofy now too! We also see a jealous Sharon once again! Nicole was the one who stated that SwaRon have amazing chemistry. Sharon kept denying it and Swayam had decided that he wouldn't pursue Sharon. Yet everything Nicole talked to Swayam or danced with him, Sharon would be green with envy. It's also nice to see TanHa aka Shantanu & Sneha and ArSha aka Amar & Shakti together.

Also now that Sharon's in, I'm starting to notice that the oldies are starting to miss dancing. The last couple episodes have been riddled with montages of their previous performances. I'm pretty sure something major has to happen before the oldies finally realize that dance is their true calling. I wonder what will happen to the newbies. Today's episode definitely highlighted how much they miss being together in the rehearsal hall doing their thing. I wonder how much longer till we get to see the Indiafest episodes. My guess is at least 1-2 weeks.

Until then, here's a snapshot of today's episode...

Daily Update: D3, January 29th, 2013

Today's episode was all about getting Sharon to manage the new dance team. ReYam, Nilesh and Aashi wonder how to make the group come together considering each of the new dancers have their own unique style. The figure out that Sharon - the ultimate taskmaster - can make that happen. She gets things done and doesn't waste any time in the process. They realize that Sharon is their only answer so they try to think of a plan to make sure that Sharon agrees to help them. They have an emergency meeting at Swayam's house and try to think of plans. I have to say, this portion of the episode was hilarious! I especially like Nilesh's scenario! Poor Swayam following Sharon around like a lost puppy! It was hilarious! It was nice to see the oldies helping out with the Sharon patao plan. Neha and Vickie were hilarious. Bharat and Amar did a good job with their bit too. It was nice to see that they came together to help out their friends rather than get into another ego tassel.

Along with all the planning, we also witnessed some cute TaaRey romance. Rey treats Taani like a princess! He is so careful with her and always tries to make her smile! It's to endearing seeing them finally together. I personally hated all that tension and misunderstandings they had between them. It was frustrating seeing them secretly pining for each other. Anyway, so now that they are together, it is a relief. The whole TaaRey and Swayam scene was funny! I like how Swayam immediately turns around and proceeds to leave the room when he figures out that Rey and Taani were having a moment! Ab tak digest nahi hua!

But personally, the best part of the episode for me was the whole Aashi - Swayam - Sharon scene. Just when Nilesh and Swayam are supposed to carrying out their part of the plan, Aashi steps in and totally kills it! She starts pretend dancing with Swayam. The looks of Sharon's face - priceless! She looked like she was going to cut Aashi in half for touching her man! Vrushika was awesome in that scene and were Shantanu and Sneha!

From the preview, it looks like Rey makes the plan work and gets Sharon to join as Captain. Let's see what happens next...

Daily Update: D3, January 28th, 2013

So looks like it is going to the oldies vs. the newbies this week. I understand why the oldies are sad about being asked to leave the rehearsal hall but I feel like they should understand that they chose to do other things. I don't understand why they are making such a big deal when they themselves chose other things over dance. First, they refuse to give up their other activities in order to participate in India Fest and now they won't even support the new dancers. They truly are the 'confused lot.'

Poor ReYam have their work cut out for them. They have a completely new group of people they have to work with and those people are brimming with attitude. They can't even agree on the dance form for their performance. Wonder how all of this is going to shape up. I'm hoping that the oldies realize that they are meant to be dancers and re-join the dance team. As for Sharon, wonder when her secret will come out. I'm hoping that Simmi blurts it out when things are tense.

I have to say, I really liked the Sharon-Taai talk. It was so meaningful. I like how Taani always tries to make Sharon realize how much she means to Swayam. She is such an awesome 'wingman' for Swayam. Sharon and Taani have an almost sisterly type bond. Sharon has always supported Taani through thick and thin and Taani too confides in Sharon. Its nice to see that caring side of Sharon once in a while.

ReYam, Aashi and Nilesh are in a fix and figure out that their answer is Sharon - the ultimate task master! They figure that if anyone can get the newbies to cooperate then it's Sharon. She gets things done - no excuses and no drama. It's so nice to see ReYam back in action. It reminded me of the good old days. From the preview it looks like all of them will try to get Sharon to help them out but poor Swayam has to bear the brunt of her anger - as usual. Wonder what happens next...

So here's a snapshot of today's episode...

Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year (1/21-1/24)

The Cheetah is back! After a week of drama regarding Yuvi's health, Yuvi regains consciousness! Yay! Of course, Yuvi wouldn't be out of action for a long time but I had my doubts. I wonder if Shivin asked for vacation! Back to some serious stuff, Yuvi gains consciousness and the troubles begin...

Suvreen and her friends protest outside the police station. The police inspector is unfazed. He tells everyone that once the students realize that nothing will happen because of their protests, they will leave. But when the protesters don't leave, he orders the other policemen to chase out the protesters. He knew that his action would trigger the students to become violent. Just as he hoped, a policeman is injured and Suvreen, Manu, Rathi, Annie and Naro and many others are arrested.

News of the protest reaches RC. He pulls some strings and arranges bail for Suvreen and rest of the students. He also tells the inspector that he spoke to commissioner regarding the case and the commissioner's office has issued an arrest warrant for the thugs who attacked Yuvi and molested Alisha. Suvreen and her friends are happy to hear that finally something will happen and Yuvi will get his justice. They thank RC and make their way to the hospital to visit Yuvi.

When they get to the hospital, more good news - Yuvi is awake! Everyone argues about who will be the first to visit Yuvi, when Manu and Rathi sneak in. I love their scene! It is so emotional and funny all at the same time. I love their friendship. After them, the girls too make their way in. Annie, Alisha and Naro are happy to see that Yuvi is finally recovering. Alisha thanks Yuvi for standing up for her. Finally Suvreen comes in. The others leave giving YuvReen some privacy.

I really hoped that Yuvi would tell Suvreen that he loved her but instead he told her he didn't want to die. Really? I'm starting to lose my patience. How much longer is it going to take Yuvi to muster up the courage to tell Suvreen that he loves her? What really got to me was that even in the middle of all this, Yuvi was jealous of RC. Really man? Your girl went to jail for you! What more do you want? Yuvi should be thanking RC for getting his girl out of prison!

Suvreen tells her parents and Jasleen that Yuvi is getting better. They are all overjoyed. Jasleen is relieved that she doesn't have to testify anymore. She is happy because she doesn't have to guilty anymore. I get that Jasleen is young and hence she is naive but really? This girl is so crooked! I can't wait for when she has to face the consequences of her actions. When will she learn to be responsible? All she does is blame other people for her actions. She knows she should help but she hides behind excuses.

RC tells Suvreen that the thugs who attacked Yuvi have been caught. Just when things are finally happening, all hell breaks lose. It turns out that one of the thugs is from an affluent family. So he has the connections to make petty allegations like this disappear. One of his hired goons leaves a threatening note in Yuvi's room. They want him to drop the case or bad things will happen to his friends. His goons even send a threatening letter to Alisha's mother telling her that if she testifies then they will burn her face with acid. Even RC is not spared. The goons almost run him over.

When it comes time for Alisha to come to the police station to identify the thugs, she doesn't show up. That's when the thug has a confrontation with Suvreen. He tells her that he will not stay locked up for long. He also tells her that even if the witness wants to testify, she will not be able to. Suvreen wonders what he meant. When she finds out about the threats, she realizes that this is much more serious and dangerous than she thought. From the previews of the upcoming episodes, it seems like Suvreen will try to convince Jasleen to testify. They have an argument and their parents will find out the truth about the whole situation. I wonder what her parents will decide after they find out that Jasleen was the one who caused all of this.

As I mentioned earlier, the makers of Suvreen Guggal should be applauded for taking up such serious issues in their show. The core audience of their show is the youth and I really like that they use their show as a medium to inform the youth of their rights and responsibilities. I can't wait to see how they are going to handle this entire Eve Teasing track. Suvreen Guggal episodes this week reminded me of No One Killed Jessica. After watching movies like No One Killed Jessica and reading about the Jessica Lal murder case, it is disheartening seeing people with power and means getting away with murder. This current track also reminded me of the Keenan and Reuben murder case where Keenan and Reuben were brutally attacked by eve-teasers when they tried to save their female friends. So does that mean that justice is not for the common man? A simple show like Suvreen Guggal raises such an important question.

Daily Update - D3, January 24th, 2013

First off, let me apologize for being late! I was working yesterday and when I got home I had the worst headache! I just couldn't think! I just needed to sleep.

Now that I got that out of the way, let's focus on the episode in question. The VP introduces 4 dancers to Rey, Swayam, Aashi and Nilesh. He tells them that they are going to be a part of the new St. Louis dance team. ReYam realize that they have a huge challenge on their hands and decide to face it head on. Meanwhile, all of the other boys and girls go to the rehearsal hall and reminisce about their pat experiences. They are saddened by the fact that they won't be able to go to India Fest because they chose other avenues. That was a really touching scene. Each dancer relived his or her glory days and craved to have that fun back in their current situation. I'm sure that in the future episodes they will realize that it is indeed dance that is their true calling.

Just when they are leaving the hall, the new members of the dance team walk in. One of the guys clearly has an attitude problem and picks a fight with Vickie. And suddenly everyone is arguing. That's when ReYam, Nilesh and Aashi walk in. They calm everyone down and diffuse the situation. Swayam introduces the rest of the gang as the "Ex Team Members" while Rey asks the newbies to respect them.  I wonder what will happen to these new dancers considering they are not the ones who will be performing at India Fest.

I'm glad to see Lipsa! Check out Lipsa do her thing! She was a contestant on Dance India Dance season 3 just like Sneha Gupta aka Aashi. It's fun to spot DID alums on Dil Dostii Dance. I'm glad to see that they get lots of opportunities because of their participation in such a huge dance show.

Moving on, TaaRey have their first lover's tiff. Taani is late for their bike ride and Rey gets upset. It's cute and I couldn't stop saying "Aww" when I watched their scenes. I couldn't help comparing their tiff with KriYansh tiffs. I feel like KriYansh tiffs were very childish but TaaRey are a bit more mature. They are innocent and cute but certainly not childish. I feel like a certain amount of heartbreak allows them to appreciate the simple things in life much more. They don't take each other for granted and truly understand one another. KriYansh was like puppy love but TaaRey is more of a romance. I can't wait to see what happens next.

So here's a snapshot of what happened in the episode...

Just like Shantanu and Sneha were christened TanHa, I hereby christen Shantanu and Vrushika ShanIka. And to all those ShanIka fans out there, here's something special for you. Looks like ShanIka are going to be making an appearance at an event in Hyderabad. Check out the video for more details...

PS: Don't forget to vote for CharMar aka Charlie & Amar (if you like their performance, of course)! You can call or vote online here.

Daily Update - D3, January 23rd, 2013

Just like I predicted in my last post, today's episode was all drama, drama, drama. Of course, Sharon wasn't going to spill the beans and tell Swayam the reason behind her withdrawal from Indiafest. And of course the missing AVP wouldn't make everything so easy for the boys and girls of St. Louis.

As soon as Rey makes the announcement, everyone becomes excited. Rey and Swayam tell everyone that rehearsals will have to start immediately as they don't have enough time. Just then Taani gives them their first piece of bad news, Vicki, Neha, Bharat, Amar, Simmi and Rinni will not be allowed to miss class for the dace activity. This puts everyone in a pickle. Taani tells them that the only way they will be allowed to miss class is if they step down from their other duties or assignments. Needless to say, no one steps down and as a result the only people who are able to participate are Rey, Swayam, Nilesh, Aashi and Sharon.

The second piece of bad news comes when Sharon tells everyone that she will not be participating. Everyone is in shock when she says that she has no interest in performing at Indiafest. Swayam gets upset and repeatedly questions her. Rey notices that and tells everyone that the meeting is over. After everyone leaves, SwaRon have their 'talk' or so I think. I'm pretty sure that Swayam is aware that something is not quite right with Sharon. Now it's only a matter of time until Swayam finds out the truth. I can't wait for that revelation. I'm hoping that it will bring them closer.

They saw bad news comes in threes so the third piece is bad news is the AVP - just kidding! The AVP tells Rey and Swayam that they can't go to Indiafest with just 4 dancers. They have to go as a team or not at all. The boys try to reason with her that since the other members of the dance team are not able to miss class they have no other choice. The VP decides to handle the situation and tells them to meet him in the projector room. So apparently after the flashmob scene, certain students approached the management and asked to join the dance team. Wonder how that works out considering that the original D3 boys and girls are the one who ultimately perform at Indiafest. I'm especially curious to see what makes Sharon perform.

So here's a snippet of today's episode...

In other news, looks like the D3 gang was really popular at Nokia Indiafest. According to this article they were mobbed! Good luck guys and keep rocking! Can't wait to see the performances and the episodes!

Daily Update - D:3, January 22nd, 2013

Let me start out this post with this interview of Shantanu and Vrushika.

I mentioned in one of my earlier posts about all the re-shoots with Vrushika. Here we get to see the filming of the first SwaRon Paso Doble. It must have been hard having to match steps with Sneha considering these were iconic SwaRon dances but once again, Vrushika's working really hard to make sure that the SwaRon magic is back.

Here is the original scene with Sneha. This is the level of intensity and chemistry that Vrushika has to re-create! She has her work cut out for her!

Moving on to today's episode, ReYam are back! And we saw Taani dance! It was nice to see her dancing with all the other D3 girls, especially considering the last time we saw her dance was during the Monsoon Special episode. Also the song, 'Crazy Kiya Rey' was so appropriate. It was nice seeing all the girls dancing together once again. It sort of reminded me of this dance by Kriya, Neha and Vishaka.

Remember this one? It's so weird watching this video now. Shakti and Vinti are no longer a part of Dil Dostii Dance. Can't wait to see the boys and girls dancing again.

Coming back to today's episode, after the morning dance routine, the girls join the boys in the cafeteria. There Simmi tells everyone that she is planning to sell her dance gear. One thing leads to another, and everyone questions Sharon about her choice. Before she can say anything, everyone get a text from Rey asking them to meet him in class. Once there, Rey informs the gang that they have been invited to Indiafest again this year. Everyone is excited except for Sharon.

I'm pretty sure that Swayam noticed Sharon's awkwardness when she was questioned about her choice. From the preview it looks like Sharon is going to tell everyone that she will not be participating. I'm hoping that when Swayam confronts her, she'll cave and tell him the truth but then again who am I kidding! Drama, drama and more drama!

So here is a snapshot of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 21st, 2013

So last we saw that Swayam found out about Taani and Rey from the boys. It shouldn't have happened but it did. Now this week we are going to see fireworks...

Swayam questions the boys about how much they knew and why no one told him anything. He feels hurt that he was left in the dark by his own sister and closest friend. He decides to be alone and calm down. He makes his way to St. Louis. Yes the exact same place where TaaRey are supposedly on their first date. TaaRey find out that Swayam knows about them. Rey decides to talk to Swayam and tells Taani to go home. On the other hand, Sharon knows that something major will go down so she too makes her way to St. Louis. I have to say I loved the Aashi-Sharon conversation. I'm hoping that Sharon realizes that pushing Swayam away is not the answer.

Swayam sees Taani when he enters St. Louis. He doesn't listen to anything she says and tells her to go home. Just then Sharon comes in too and tells Taani to leave. After Taani leaves, Swayam vents his frustrations. Man I really feel bad for the guy! He is like the go to for everyone when they have problems but he never has anyone to talk to when he is facing problems of his own. Yes, he used to talk to Rey but now that Rey has broken his trust, I wonder how much time it will take for ReYam to get back into their groove.

Swayam accuses Sharon of hiding the truth from him. Sharon tries to assure him that she too just found out about TaaRey but Swayam doesn't believe her. Rey steps in and clears the air. He apologizes for not telling him anything and hopes that their friendship won't suffer. When Swayam doesn't say anything, Rey tells him that he is willing to lose out on his relationship if that is what will make Swayam happy. I've got to say, Amar is getting to be a fine actor. His emotions and pleading really got to me. It was such an emotional scene. I also have to congratulate Vrushika for bringing the same intensity that Sneha brought to Sharon.

Here's a snapshot of today's episode...

Moving on, as I mentioned earlier, D3 will be a part of Nokia Indiafest this year as well. Last year SwaRon had a breakthrough and I'm hoping that the same happens this year too. Check out this little video of the Shantanu and Vrushika doing their thing at Indiafest...

And this one of what is probably going to be a performance on the show. Shantanu and Vrushika are totally rocking it! So considering Sharon is dancing again, I'm guessing every one known about her condition and encourage her to continue following her passion...

Here is another sneak peak of the group performance. Looks like it is going to be a freestyle and contemporary group performance this year. Can't wait to see the actual performance when the episode airs!

Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year (1/14 - 1/17)

Grim and emotional - That's how I would describe this week's episodes of Suvreen Guggal. I've barely started watching Suvreen Guggal and this show is already starting to make an impact on me. I went back and watched the series of episodes regarding Naro's ordeal and loved the way Suvreen and Yuvraj joined forces to get Naro the justice she deserved. What I love the most about Suvreen is her fighting spirit. She fights whenever she sees injustice. She doesn't step down just because she is a young or a student or she doesn't have fancy connections. She has the courage to fight for what is right. On top of all that, Suvreen is such a relatable character. She is a normal middle-class girl with normal aspirations.

This week started off with Yuvi's unfortunate stabbing. While Yuvi, Alisha and Jasleen are leaving the lounge, they are attacked by a group of drunks. Yuvi tries to save the girls and in the process gets brutally attacked and stabbed. Alisha and Jasleen plead for help from the passersby but no one helps them. Just then Suvreen calls Yuvi's cell to thank him for all his help during the fashion show. Alisha tells Suvreen about what happened. After speaking to Suvreen, Alisha tells Jasleen to go home since she doesn't want her to get involved with the police or the hospital mess. Finally a taxi driver comes to their rescue and agrees to take Alisha and Yuvi to the city hospital. When they reach the hospital, the doctors refuse to admit Yuvi claiming that since it is a police case, they can't do anything unless the police file a report. The police finally arrive but don't do anything.

Suvreen, Zorro and RC finally reach the hospital. Suvreen is shocked to see Yuvi in such a state. She begs the police to file the report but to no avail. When they don't do anything, RC calls one of his connections and makes the police inspector do his job. Yuvi is admitted and taken to the ICU. Annie, Manu, Naro and Rathi also come to the hospital and are all hurt to see Yuvi in such a state. The doctors tell them that Yuvi has suffered a lot of internal bleeding. He tells them that Yuvi's condition is very critical. RC tells Manu and Rathi to call Yuvi's family and inform them about his situation. While they are waiting in the waiting area, Alisha tells everyone about what happened. She tells them that Jasleen was also there and Yuvi was trying to protect both of them. Suvreen is shocked to hear that Jasleen was at the lounge. She decides to go home and have a word with Jasleen. Annie and Naro take Alisha to the hostel with them.

By the time Suvreen gets home, her parents are already questioning Jasleen about where Suvreen could be. She tells them about Yuvi's stabbing and they are shocked. They notice how distraught Suvreen is as a result of the incident. Suvreen has a word with Jasleen and tells her that it was because of her that Yuvi was attacked and she has to face the consequences of her actions. During the night Suvreen calls the boys and they tell her that Yuvi has been put on life support. She is completely torn and rushes to the hospital. Jasleen feels guilty about what happened but she is scared of getting involved. She doesn't want her parents to know that she was out that night and that she was the one who started the fight. I understand that she is young and naive but come on. She made a mistake and she should have to face the consequences of her actions. What I can't believe is that in the middle of all this she still calls that Vicki guy and asks him for advice. The guy was hiding behind cars secretly watching Yuvi get stabbed. What kind of advice can he offer?

The next morning, Naro tells Alisha that she will have to be brave. She tells her that she is the one who can make sure that Yuvi gets his justice. She tells her that she will have to be a witness. Alisha is determined to bring the drunks who attacked her and Yuvi to justice. Suvreen and the boys go to the police station in the morning to find out about the progress of the investigation. There they are met with a rude awakening. The police inspector tells them that nothing can be done since Yuvi is still alive and Alisha wasn't raped. Suvreen is shocked by the police inspector's apathy and tells him that he is not doing his job. He tells her that nothing will change just because she raised her voice. He needs witnesses to continue the investigation. Suvreen and the boys decide to do all they can to help Yuvi. They go back to the police station with Alisha. The police inspector questions her character because she was wearing a 'short dress.' He also tells them that as per the taxi driver's statement, there were two girls and without the second girl, the investigation will not move forward. The police inspector's apathy sparks a fire in Suvreen. She decides that enough is enough. I have to commend Smriti on her acting! I could totally feel her pain and anguish. From this week's episodes it is obvious that Suvreen still loves Yuvraj. Also after witnessing Yuvi's heroism, Alisha too has started to develop a soft corner for him.

So here's is a snapshot of what happened this week...

Daily Update - D:3, January 17th, 2013

Oh crap! That's exactly what I thought when I watched today's episode. Swayam found out of Taani and Rey from the boys. Oh no! Looks like there's going to be trouble for Rey and Taani in the future!

The boys decide to celebrate their basketball win at Swayam's considering he was the captain and all. All the boys are there except for Rey who at the time was enjoying his first date with Taani at the St. Louis terrace. Really? In college? Oh well. So the boys tell Swayam that Rey will join them later. By this time they have figured out that there is definitely something going on between Rey and Taani but they decide that they won't tell Swayam about it. Their suspicions are confirmed when Swayam tells them that Taani isn't home. These D3 boys are absolutely hilarious! Their Sharon-Swayam skit was hilarious! Vicki was an awesome Swayam and Nilesh had so much attitude as Sharon!

Meanwhile, the girls decide to have a pajama party at Sharon's. The girls tell Sharon that Taani will join them later. Sharon tells them that she won't come because she has a boyfriend. The girls are shocked and wonder who it could be. Sharon remembers Prince Charming's number and figures out that Rey and Taani are seeing each other. All the other girls are surprised. Aashi tells them that Swayam probably doesn't know about their relationship. I knew this would happen some time and it happened today - a Sharon and Aashi semi-confrontation regarding Swayam. Sharon noticed Aashi's interest in Swayam. Wonder how she'll react about that. The girls figure out that the boys probably knew about Rey and Taani and decide to call them. That's when Swayam hears them and turns into a protective big brother! Only God can save Rey now!

Coming back to TaaRey, I'm glad that Taani finally told Rey the truth about her so called relationship with Shivam. I'm also glad that Rey opened up about his feelings for her. This Shivam is such a character. First he successfully breaks up KriYansh. Then he sets his sights on SwaRon. Finally he tried his hardest to stop TaaRey from happening. Too bad the bad guy always loses! I have feeling that this bad guy wont disappear for long...

Here's a snapshot of what happened in today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 16th, 2013

Today's episode made me thinks about the effect that Sharon has on Swayam. Last year, around this time, Swayam decided to leave St. Louis for good because of the Sharon-Shivam kiss. He was so affected by what he saw, that he just couldn't take it anymore. From the video, it is obvious that Sharon too is distraught because of Swayam's decision but her ego prevents her from doing anything. Once again, Sharon and Swayam are stuck at a crossroads. They obviously care for each other but Sharon doesn't want Swayam to suffer because of her. Last year. Swayam didn't want Sharon to suffer because of him. It is obvious that they are meant to be together. Hopefully Sharon realizes that before it is too late.

Sharon finally spills her secret. I was wrong about the person but I'm glad at least one of her friends now know what is up with her. Now that I think about it, Simmi was the perfect person. She made Sharon realize that just because she has a problem, she can't keep her friends away. Now I'm hoping that Sharon realizes that just because she has asthma, she doesn't have to push Swayam away from herself.

Rey and Taani want to tell Swayam about their relationship but when they see him, Taani realizes that he is tense. Rey tells her he'll take over and tell Swayam about them. He goes over to Swayam but realizes that something is amiss between Swayam and Sharon. He figures out that this is not the right time to tell Swayam about his relationship with Taani. Although, his tries were hilarious! ReYam have the best friendship in the show. They understand each other so well. Whenever Swayam and Rey have scenes together, they are guaranteed to be absolutely amazing. With this whole SwaRon drama, I'm hoping for a lot of ReYam scenes.

From the preview it looks likes the boys and girls try to cheer up their respective friends - Swayam and Sharon. I'm guessing the boys tell Swayam about Rey and Taani. I'm curious to see how Swayam reacts to the news.

Here's a snapshot of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 15th, 2013

Looks like Sharon is doing all she can to keep Swayam away. First she asks for another assistant, and when that didn't work, she said that she would step down from being the Cultural Secretary. I wonder how long this avoidance will last before everyone gets to know the truth behind Sharon's sudden change in behavior. Poor Swayam has to languish till then. Looks like there isn't going to be any SwaRon romance in air for some time. TaaRey on the other hand are in full swing. I like that even though Sharon wants to keep a distance from Swayam, she is still considerate with Taani. She shares an interesting bond with her - part older sister and part mentor. No wonder Taani always calls her Bhabi! I have a feeling Taani with find out about Sharon's health problem first but let's see what actually happens...

Taani and Rey have their moment in the fire escape. They decide to tell Swayam about their relationship. Swayam on the other hand chases after Sharon. He tells her he needs to discuss things to bring her up to date with everything that happened in her absence. She tells him that she will talk to him if he can condense everything he has to say to one sentence. Oh Sharon you fell into that trap yourself! Swayam being Swayam tells her that he loves her and she is essentially the center of his universe! What happens next, we'll find out tomorrow. From the preview it looks like Sharon probably said something rude...

It was nice to see Sharon and Rey together. I've missed seeing their scenes. It's funny because Vrushika is so much taller than Sneha! Like for example, in today's hug scene, Vrushika totally towered over Amar. So far I have to say, she's doing a good job with her acting. The only thing that bothers me is her  diction. It doesn't always correspond with her expressions. I know she's new so I'm sure that will get better over time...

So here's a snippet of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 14th, 2013

Let's start the week off with a promo for what's to come. So we have already seen TaaRey come together. Now I guess we are going to see a SwaRon fight/tiff. Also I wonder what Swayam was referring to with the 'all this behind my back' comment. Hope he approves of TaaRey...

Coming back to today's episode, Swayam is waiting for Sharon in the rehearsal hall. Sharon wonders if she should go or not and then finally decides to go check up on him. Swayam sees her and tells her that no matter what she chooses to do, he will always be by her side. I have to say, Swayam is so amazing! He's the kind of guy any girl would want as a boyfriend. He is so understanding and considerate. I'm really hoping Sharon tells him the truth because I know he will always support her.

On the other hand, the boys wonder why there isn't any notice regarding the rehearsal hall. They ask Taani about it and she tells them that the AVP hasn't said anything. The boys decide that they will be rude to Taani just as Rey was previously rude with Taani. Just when things are starting to get out of hand, Rey steps in like a knight in shining armor! He tells the boys that Taani is not the one they should be talking to. The boys are confused by Rey's sudden change in attitude towards Taani and figure out that something changed between them. These boys are so funny! I like how they always figure out things before the girls do!

Finally the AVP and the Principal arrive. They tells all the boys and girls that the rehearsal hall is theirs once again. Everyone celebrates but Sharon looks sad. The AVP notices Sharon's lack of excitement and asks her if everything is okay. I wonder if the AVP will start manipulating Sharon. Let's wait and watch.

So here's the snippet of today's episode...

So guys, I have some news. According to this article, the D3 gang will be performing at the Nokia Indiafest this year too! I'm sure there will be a fun filled episodes around the Fest. I'm hoping that just like last time, SwaRon will have a breakthrough during the Fest. Also my prediction of more trouble for SwaRon will come true. According to this article, there is indeed trouble brewing for SwaRon. Maybe this is what is being referred to in the promo. I just hope they come out of the problem stronger and together!

Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year (1/7-1/10)

After the whole secret admirer incident, Yuvi makes it his mission to find out who sent Suvreen the flowers and arranged for the musicians. He is curious to know who would plan something like this for Suvreen. I believe there is a hint of jealousy in there too. Also from the way Suvreen reacted, I have a feelings she still has feelings for him. Yuvi enlists the help of Naro to find out the identity of the secret admirer. When the flower company contacts RC, he tells them not to disclose his information. The company calls Yuvi and refuses to disclose any information squashing Yuvi's plan.

Annie, Manu, Rathi and Zorro wonder who could be Suvreen's potential secret admirer if not for Yuvraj. Yuvraj tells them not to talk about it in front of Suvreen as she is hurt by the whole thing. When Suvreen and Alisha join the gang, they start discussing about their social awareness campaign. Suvreen tells her friends about the Delhi Gang Rape case. Her friends are in shock that such a brutal incident can take place on a bus. Manu and Rathi say things which hurt Naro's sentiments and she leaves. Annie and Zorro try to talk to her but she asks them to give her some time alone. Zorro assures Annie that Naro will be alright. Manu and Rathi plan a special medal ceremony to tell them how proud they are to have Naro as a friend. They commend her bravery.

Meanwhile, RC asks Suvreen out for dinner. Suvreen misunderstand the reason behind his invitation. She thinks that RC wants to celebrate their win at the fashion show. She excitedly agrees. RC thinks that Suvreen may have feelings for him and is happy she accepted his invitation. He plans out a romantic evening for the two of them. Vivan is excited that RC is finally going to tell Suvreen how he feels. Suvreen on the other hand is clueless about RC's feelings. She calls Zorro and tells him that RC is inviting the both of them for dinner to celebrate their win at the fashion show. Both of them are excited to be treated by their mentor.

Yuvi gets a call from a model-coordinator and goes out to meet him. The coordinator tells him that Alisha recommended him. He also tells him that he is very impressed and will definitely book him for future fashion shows. Yuvi is glad to hear that and calls Alisha to thank her. Alisha tells him that if he really wants to thank her, he should take her out to dinner. He agrees and the both of them plan to go out the next night. Looks like Alisha is seriously falling for Yuvi! And clueless Yuvi has no inkling as to what's happening!

On the day of the dinner with RC, Suvreen's mom tells her that she will have to stay home with Jasleen. Suvreen's mom and dad have been invited to a pooja and they have to go. Suvreen tells her mom that she has important plans but her mother tells her that she will have to cancel them and stay home with Jasleen since she doesn't want Jasleen to be home alone. Jasleen hears all of this and finds her way out. She made plans to go on a date with Vicki, the guy she met on the internet, but didn't know how she would get out of the house. Once her parents leave, Jasleen tells Suvreen that she should not cancel her plans. She will stay at home and Suvreen doesn't have to babysit her. She also promises Suvreen that their parents will not find out. Suvreen agrees and leaves for the dinner. Right after Suvreen leaves, Jasleen also sneaks out to meet Vickie.

RC is happy to see Suvreen but his happiness disappears when he sees Zorro. He thinks that Suvreen invited Zorro because she didn't feel comfortable meeting him alone. Zorro thanks RC for celebrating their win and taking them out to dinner. When they go inside the restaurant, Zorro is confused as to why the table is set for two rather than three. All through the night he notices that there is something off about RC. Suvreen doesn't seem to notice anything. Instead she is excited to be invited to dinner by her mentor. Zorro questions if RC has feelings for Suvreen. He wonders if Suvreen too has feelings for RC. Zorro proposes a toast to Yuvraj for helping them win the fashion show. He notices Suvreen's reaction and realizes that Suvreen is still in love with Yuvraj. I like how Zorro, the stereotypical gay character, is the most intuitive person on the show. I like how he is always the first one to figure out such things. I wonder if he is the one who figured out that RC is Suvreen's secret admirer.

Alisha and Yuvi go a trendy place for dinner. There they talk and have a good time. Yuvi spots Jasleen in the same restaurant and is shocked to see her out with a guy. He goes up to her and surprises her. Jasleen is shocked to see Yuvraj there and lies to him that she told Suvreen about her plans. Yuvi catches her lie and tells her that she should leave with him. Just as Alisha, Jasleen and Yuvi are walking out to Yuvi's jeep, a bunch of drunks start passing disgusting comments on the girls. Jasleen questions the guys but Alisha tells her to ignore them and keep walking towards the jeep. As the comments start getting more disgusting, Yuvi tells the girls to keep walking. He tells them that the guys are intoxicated and that they should just ignore them. Just when they are about to get into the jeep, the guys surround them. What happens next is shocking.

All I have to say is What is Suvreen going to do get Yuvraj justice? Will Suvreen profess her love to Yuvi seeing him in such a state? Will Yuvi finally profess his love to Suvreen? Will RC realize that Suvreen loves Yuvi? Will Suvreen even find out about RC's feelings for her? I'm eagerly awaiting next week's episodes to see what happens. What will Suvreen do next?

I'm glad that the creators of Suvreen Guggal are highlighting such a critical issue. Seems like every day there is some story on the news about a brutal rape or assault of a woman. It seems like such stories are becoming the norm. When will such incidents stop? I personally feel like things like this can stop only if the people are willing to change their mindset. I like that shows like Suvreen Guggal are trying to change the mindset of the youth and their audience.

Here is a snapshot of what happened this week on Suvreen Guggal...

Daily Update - D:3, January 10th, 2013

Now that we know what's going on with Sharon, we get to see the effects of Sharon's lack of interest on Swayam. Taani realizes that Swayam is tensed so she goes to talk to him. Swayam refuses to talk to her about his problems and asks her to leave so that he can 'become normal'. Taani wonders what could have happened between Sharon and Swayam to make his this tensed. Rey figures out that Taani doesn't know anything about SwaRon's trial relationship. He doesn't tell her anything because he promised Swayam and Sharon that he wouldn't tell anyone their secret. He assures Taani that everything will be all right and things will get back to normal.

From today's episode it is apparent that Sharon is obviously in love with Swayam. She cares for hims deeply and worries that her health problems will have a negative effect on Swayam. She doesn't want him to suffer because of her so she devices a plan to stay away from him. She's constantly mourning his loss. I'm sure that when Swayam finds out about her health problems, he will be by her side. I predict Taani will find out about Sharon's asthma first. Let's see what happens.

Side note: From the moment I saw Vrushika's interviews and the last episodes, she reminded me of someone. I just couldn't figure out who. I finally got it! Vrushika reminds me of Tamanna Bhatia, an actress who works in Tamil and Telugu movies. They could almost be sisters!

I'm curious to see what Sharon does next to spite Swayam and keep him away from her. Also TaaRey are so cute! Their romance will keep D3 light and fluffy. I'm also hoping next week will be full of ReYam moments as Rey tries to help Swayam figure out what's going on with Sharon.

So without further delay, here is the snippet of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 9th, 2013

All those questions about Sharon's sudden rude/cold behavior towards Swayam were answered in today's episode. Before she left, Sharon made Swayam promise that he never stay away from dance. But everything changes for Sharon. She is forced to stop dancing. She feels incomplete without dance in her life and she doesn't want Swayam to feel the same way. She doesn't want Swayam to stop dancing because of her. So she decides that staying away from Swayam is best solution to her problem.

I have to say the SwaRon dance to Yaadien was absolutely beautiful! I have to Vrushika totally killed it! It was nice seeing SwaRon dancing a contemporary dance. The song and the dance totally fit the mood of the situation. I must say I'm really like Vrushika. She's really doing a good job.

The only other time Sharon was shown dancing contemporary was during the Charity Event. Rey and Sharon danced to Apologize. Sneha did an awesome job matching steps with Amar who is known to be an awesome contemporary dancer. Looks like Vrushika and Shantanu will definitely be able to re create the same magic Sneha and Shantanu were able to create previously.

Other than the awesome SwaRon dance, there is some super awesome TaaRey moments. Rey and Taani finally confess their feelings for each other. I'm glad that at least one love story is on track. I wonder what Swayam's reaction will be when he finds out about Sharon's problem. I know he will support her but I wonder what his plan of action will be. Even during the India Fest track, Swayam was the only on who help Sharon gain back her self-confidence. I'm sure he will make her realize that even though she has been told to stay away from dance, she can still be involved.

Finally, take a look at the snippet of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 8th, 2013

Just when I thought there was going to be some awesome SwaRon romance, I was sorely disappointed. SwaRon are back to square one. Sharon was thinking about Swayam and all of their interactions. Just before she comes to a conclusion about their relationship status, Swayam enters the auditorium. As soon as Swayam appears, her demeanor changes. From the sweet and gentle Sharon, she turns into the arrogant and mean Sharon. I don't understand why she reacted that way. I thought during the Dance Camp, she realized that she does have feelings for Swayam even though she ended the 'trial relationship'. So I wonder what brought about her change in attitude now that Swayam is in front of her. Anyway, Swayam wows to find out why she suddenly changed.

Now moving on to TaaRey. Taani looks at the pictures from the basketball match. She is happy to know that St. Louis won the match and the AVP's challenge. But when she looks closely at the pictures, she notices that Rey doesn't look happy. Just then Rey climbs into her room from the window and what follows is mega romantic! I'm glad that at least TaaRey are keeping up the romance alive in Dil Dostii Dance. As the preview shows, there is a lot of TaaRey romance happening. Also I'm curious to see the SwaRon dance. From the preview, it looks good. Looks like no time has been spared to make Vrushika dance.

When you watch the episode, a lot of montage scenes have been re-shot with Vrushika. If you really want to see how she fares compared to Sneha, check out the first time that Swayam and Sharon dance together on stage during the Footloose auditions...

Original:

Re-Shot with Vrushika:

I have to say, Vrushika is doing a good job thus far. She had a complex scene today. She had to be harsh and gentle at the same time and she handled it well. I'm hoping that instead of more fights, we get to see some romance. Maybe the SwaRon track is following the TaaRey pattern - a whole lot of hurtful fights and then loads of romance.

Now going into flashback mode, this climbing in through the window scene reminded me of a cute KriYansh moment. Seems like Rey has a knack for climbing into his girl's room especially when she's thinking about him! I like how Kriya thinks that Rey is a figment of her imagination. As soon as she realizes that he is in fact actually there, her demeanor changes drastically! It's hilarious! Also for those of you who watch Suvreen Guggal, you'll notice that the background music in this scene is the same as the background music used in Suvreen Guggal. No wonder I always thought it sounded familiar...

So here is a snippet of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 7th, 2013

In St. Louis College, good guys do finish first! In today's episode we witnessed the thrilling conclusion to the St. Louis vs. Wellham basketball match. Of course, St. Louis was going to win but it was fun watching them stun the heck out of the burly Wellham guys with their dancing and innovative strategy. After Amar is injured, Rey has to step in. He is encouraged by the crowd cheering for him and his friends. Finally we get to see some ReYam action. When Rey and Swayam are together, nothing can stop them from getting what they want.

As soon as Rey enters, he scores a few 3 point shots for St. Louis. It was certainly exciting! The Principal's reaction to every basket was so endearing! He kept cheering the team till the end. The AVP on the other hand seemed to get more flustered with each basket. I especially love when her cocky smile disappears and is replaced with a worried frown. Finally in the end the boys won and now she has to give them what she promised them - the rehearsal hall. It will be fun to see the boys and girls get back to their dancing masti ways now that the rehearsal halls is theirs again.

Apart from the basketball excitement, Sharon finally made an appearance! She's officially back! She was just in time to see her man make the winning basket and lead St. Louis to victory. Good timing Sharon! She leaves midway during the victory celebrations to check out the auditorium - her temple. From her expressions, its easy to understand why she loves the stage so much. The stage gives her the drive to succeed and work hard. My first impression of Vrushika was that she seemed like a sweet Sharon. She didn't have any dialogues in this episode so I can't really judge her acting. Hopefully in tomorrow's episode we will get to see more of her acting.

Finally, the preview for the forthcoming episodes was super exciting. Rey is finally going to tell Taani how he feels. I'm hoping for some awesome TaaRey fireworks in the future, enough with all the roona dhoona drama shama. SwaRon too have their moment! I believe the Shantanu and Vrushika will totally recreate the SwaRon magic. Shantanu is just too good! I can't wait for Dil to reappear in Dil Dostii Dance...

So without further adieu, here is the snippet of today's episode

PS: Don't forget to watch Amar and Charlie aka CharMar on Nach Baliye 5 every Saturday and Sunday! Keep voting and giving them your support!

Favorite Dances So Far - D:3 Edition

As the name suggests, Dil Dostii Dance is about love, friendship and dance. I love the way each element is mixed wonderfully to create an entertaining concoction. So far I've faithfully kept up with the show and I've come to enjoy almost all of the dance performances. What I really like is that with each performance, the choreographers and the dancers try to create something new and better. I've also noticed that with each performance, the bar is set even higher. I can't wait for what will come in the future. But before that, let's take a look at my favorite dances so far...

Dazzlers
  • Footloose Audition

This was the first time we got to watch the Dazzlers in action and I must say they were amazing! I loved their entry onto the stage and I loved the way the props were used. I also loved their attitude. Hats off to the choreographers for coming up with something new and creating an extremely entertaining performance.
  • Footloose Finals

This time the Dazzlers were paying homage to Michael Jackson who is considered the God of dance. He had a unique style which so different from his contemporaries. He dared to be different and created a sensation. I loved the way the Dazzlers used his signature steps and combined with an Bollywood song sung by Kishore Kumar. Another innovative use of music and style. I have to complement Amar, Macedon, Sneha, Archie and Samentha for doing an awesome job.

Weaklings
  • Footloose Eliminations

This performance is really special. This was Shakti's last dance performance. Shortly after this episode she quit the show. This performance was so different and unique. It was a mix of Bollywood and contemporary. I liked the way this performance showcased Shakti's dancing skill. No one can take her place.
  • Footloose Finals

This was another heart-wrenching performance by the Weaklings. I loved the way the Kal Ho Na Ho theme was used. Each dancer was expressing their own frustrations with college life. I could totally connect with their emotions and frustrations. Once again, I commend them for doing something different.

Group Dances
  • Chamak Challo during the Diwali Special

This performance was during the Diwali Special. I loved the way the Dazzlers and Weaklings came together to give an amazing performance. I loved the way the entire song was choreographed. The boys section was awesome and the girls certainly did well. If you notice, Sneha is missing in this group dance. She wasn't present in the Diwali Special since she was very ill at the time. Wish she was in this too.
  • Charity Event

Talk about a group dance! This is certainly it! I loved the attitude, the song and most of all the dance! I've got to admit after I watched this, I wanted to get up and join them on stage! They make every step look so effortless and easy! Thumbs up!
  • India Fest

This was the first group performance after Shakti quit the show. It was awesome to see the Weaklings and the Dazzlers come together again and create fire on the stage. I love the way they were able to include almost every popular song of the time and create an awesome performance. Sneha once again had awesome attitude and stood out among all the girls. Among the boys I loved ReYam's bits the most.

Face Offs
  • Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 1 (up till 3:40)

This is the first face-off between the Dazzlers and the Weaklings. This face-off takes place right after their Footloose audition performance. I love the energy that each group has and most of all I love that they stick to their own specific style while they perform. For me personally, the Weaklings totally steal the Dazzler's thunder!
  • Boys vs. Girls

This face-off is cute rather than fierce! The girls and boys are given a project - understand the opposite sex. The girls decide to do a dance presentation and the boys just had to do the same. The song choices for both are just awesome. I like how Shakti totally imitates Amar to the T! Although I have to say the Girls won this one for me!
  • Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 2

This face-off takes place after the Footloose competition. The Dazzlers won the competition but the Weaklings were wrongly disqualified from performing. This has to do with Shivam's deviousness but the Weaklings are unaware of that and blame Sharon for their loss. They feel that if they performed, they would have won. I absolutely love the attitude of both teams. A special shout out to Sneha. Not only is she an amazing dancer, but she also has amazing stage presence. That girl can sure dance! She will definitely be missed. I love that in the end their love for dance brings them together.
  • St. Louisians vs. KR College

This one is my most favorite face-off. This one takes place after the rowdy dancers from KR College challenge the St. Louisans to a face-off during the Dace Fest. The St. Louisians totally put the rowdy KR dancers in their place and showed them that no one can mess with the St. Louisians on their own turf! I love how Rey, Swayam and Nilesh totally overpower the KR rowdies with their excellent dancing.

Couple Dances
  • First KriYansh Dance

This one is special! This was the first time Kriya and Rey were dancing together in the show. I've enjoyed watching Amar and Shakti on Dance India Dance. Each time they came together, they set the stage on fire. I had high expectations for their first dance on the show and they certainly did not disappoint!
  • Roop Tera Mastana by KriYansh

I absolutely loved watching this super sensuous and hot performance by KriYansh! They totally set the screen on fire with their rocking performance. As usual, Shakti and Amar were fabulous and their chemistry was out of this world! I have to say Shakti totally rocked the saree and Amar was his usual hot self!
  • Hay Rama by SwaRon

Like Kriyansh, SwaRon too had their moment with this super sexy and sensuous number. Hay Rama is such a powerful song and I love the way the choreographers interpreted it. Sneha and Shantanu totally rocked this song and performance. I could literally feel the tension and the chemistry pouring out of them. Their intensity and strength made this a super special performance for all SwaRon fans.

Boys
  • Kya Kare Kya Na Kare by ReYam

This song cemented the ReYam bond. Both boys were confused by the way their respective girls were treating them. Both boys shared their frustrations with each other. Both had no idea how to tell their respective lady loves how they felt. The song goes perfectly with their situation. Not to mention Shantanu and Amar dance amazingly! It's a treat watching them on screen!
  • Maa Da Ladla

The boys perform this song at Prof. RDX and Nicole's sangeet. This is such a hilarious performance. It's so funny to see these macho guys dancing in such a feminine fashion. Also I love the expression on the girls' faces. Macedon is absolutely hilarious in this song and totally stands out!

Girls
  • First dance by Kriya

This dance takes place when Sharon challenges Kriya to prove herself. Kriya does not hesitate and shows the 'Dazzlers' who she really is. She sets the stage on fire and proves to St. Louis that the 'Dazzlers' are not the only ones who can dance. I love Shakti's attitude and confidence in this song. She totally nails it!
  • Gopala during the Diwali Special

This was another performance from the Diwali special. The girls were amazing in this performance. This was the first time the girls did something that was totally Bollywood. Hats off to Alisha for choreographing this catchy song. A special shout out to Samentha aka Simmi for her belly dancing bit!
  • Chane Ke Khet Mein by Neha

First off. let it be knows that this is my favorite Madhuri Dixit song. Madhuri is absolutely awesome in this song. When I saw this on D3, I have to say Alisha did an awesome job. She kept the steps similar to the original but I love that the boys are her backup dancers. The creativity is just awesome. Even though the steps are mostly the same, I like that they tried something new.

Special Mention
  • Bole Chudiyan featured on Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai

The D3 cast made a special appearance in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai for Viren and Jeevika's sangeet. It was awesome seeing the group do a Bollywood number. Alisha, Shakti and Sneha were absolutely amazing in this song. It was nice seeing Sneha finally dance an out an out Bollywood number. The boys were dashing in their shervanis. Here's hoping for more Bollywood dance numbers.

  • Flash Mob by Rey, Swayam, Aashi and Nilesh

I wasn't able to find a full video of the performance. When I do I will update this post...

What an amazing performance and concept! Once the music starts, everything changes. The mannequins turn out to be dancers in costume. Rey, Swayam and Nilesh have an amazing entry. The choreography was awesome. The creativity and the ingenuity of the performance was just awesome. Hats off to all the folks involved with creating something so spectacular!

Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year

So last week ended with RC telling Suvreen that Vivan was sick. So the next morning Suvreen goes to RC's house with some homemade soup for Vivan. Now since Vivan is not sick, RC does not let Suvreen meet him. Instead he tells her that Vivan is contagious and she should leave before she gets sick! Vivan is disappointed that RC asked Suvreen to leave instead of spending time with her. So he comes up with a plan to help RC 'win over' Suvreen. He sends Suvreen flowers with a cheesy romantic note and hires musicians to sing her favorite song in the college cafeteria. The one thing Vivan forgot to do was write RC's name on the note. So Suvreen comes to the conclusion that Yuvraj is her secret admirer. Everyone is shocked and surprised when it turns out that Yuvraj is not her secret admirer.

Watching that entire sequence makes me feel like Suvreen still has feelings for Yuvraj. Even though she told everyone that she moved on with her life, she still has a soft corner for him. I'm starting to feel bad for RC. Poor guy doesn't stand a chance if Suvreen is still in love with Yuvraj. Besides I don't really like Suvreen with RC. He is too mature for her. I like her equation with Vivan but I don't think she can play the role of being a mother figure. She is more like his guide. Considering RC is going to ask Suvreen out for dinner, I wonder what will happen there.

Baby aka Jasleen is quite spunky! She is a complete opposite of Suvreen. She is a typical sneaky teenager who loves talking with her friends rather than pouring over books and sample papers. Her parents think she's taking a study break in Delhi but her actual purpose of coming to Delhi is to meet some dude she met online. Already sounds like a bad idea. She is childish and naive even though she tires hard to act mature. Jasleen lies to her mom and tells her that Suvreen and her went out to watch a movie. When their mom calls Suvreen, Suvreen realizes that Jasleen lied and gets worried about her well-being. When Suvreen finally finds Jasleen, this is what went down.

Suvreen doesn't understand why Jasleen feels like that. This is where some clarity from Yuvraj helps her figure out that Jasleen is tired of being treated like the baby of the family. She wants some space and doesn't seem to be getting it from her parents or Suvreen. She is tired of living up to her ideal older sister and wants to forge her own path. I personally like that Jasleen's character has a bit of grey shades is not a goody-two-shoes like Suvreen. I'm curious to see how Suvreen handles the situation and helps Jasleen understand that although she wants independence she isn't responsible enough to handle it.

Shifting gears, Yuvraj is trying his best to become 'hi-fi' so that he can impress Suvreen. Alisha is impressed by how fast Yuvraj is grasping all that she teaches him. I have a feeling she's falling for him. She always tries to be close to him. When Yuvraj suggests that she join Manu, Rathi and Naro instead of joining his group, she suspects that there is something going on between him and Suvreen. She starts noticing that he always gives Suvreen extra attention. She even asks Naro and Annie if there is anything going on between Suvreen and Yuvraj. They all assure her that Yuvraj and Suvreen are just good friends and nothing can happen between them. So it is going to be a RC-Suvreen-Yuvraj-Alisha parallelogram! Wonder when Yuvraj will finally profess his love to Suvreen...

Suvreen and her friends start filming their social awareness campaign in DPSC. They interview the students of their college to find out their views on eve teasing and women's safety. What they discover is alarming. Their own classmates have very regressive thoughts. For example, one student says that girls who wear short skirts like the bad attention that they get. Another says that girls wear short clothes because they want the negative attention. I like that this show is taking up such an important issue especially after the brutal Delhi Gang Rape case. I like that this show is attempting to change the attitudes of the youth in a creative way rather than being preachy about it.

This promo especially caught my attention. After the case became big news, the creators of Suvreen Guggal released this promo. I love the message and the spirit of Suvreen. Hopefully, this campaign is successful and helps shift the regressive attitudes of not only the students of DPSC but also the viewers as well.

So here is a look at what happened this week in Suvreen Guggal...
