Favorite Top 10 Scenes: Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? was undoubtedly the most popular show on Star Plus at the time. It captured our hearts with the heart-wrenching love story of business tycoon Arnav Singh Raizada and the fun-loving Khushi Kumari Gupta. Ever since the first time they met, Arnav and Khushi aka ArHi or ArShi developed a connection. Arnav tried very hard to deny it but always found himself drawn to Khushi. On the other hand, Khushi tried her best to hate Arnav but couldn't make her heart go against him. Over the course of the show, ArShi had several moments that ere etched in my memory. Needless to say IPKKND made Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani overnight stars! After a long struggle, I was able to narrow it down to my top 10 favorite scenes of IPKKND. So without further adieu, here they are in chronological order...

1. Arnav and Khushi meet for the first time

Arnav and Khushi meet for the first time at a fashion show hosted by AR Designs, Arnav Singh Raizada's fashion house. Khushi comes to venue to speak to Payal's fiance about the dowry demands made by his parents. In stead of making her way to the fiance's room, Khushi ends up at the fashion show venue. In the confusion, they dress her up and push her on the ramp. Khushi is shocked and doesn't know how to react. When she turns around to run off the ramp, she falls off the ramp right into Arnav's arms. The chemistry is undeniable.

2. Khushi tells Arnav about herself

Khushi tells Arnav that she sympathizes with him when she finds out that his parents passed away when he was young. Arnav gets irritated and yells at her telling her that she doesn't know how it feels to see your parents pass away. Later Arnav finds out that Khushi's parents also passed away when she was young. He decides to apologize to her for his harsh words but isn't able to say so. When he finally apologizes to her, he ends up hurting her even more. Khushi retaliates by telling him about herself and her past. This has got to be the most touching ArHi scene. 

3. Arnav and Khushi's dance to Teri Meri

Arnav and Khushi have a bet about who will win during Payal and Akash's sangeet. During most of the sangeet, the Raizadas have the upper hand. Khushi's final performance would decide the winner of the evening. It so happens that Khushi's final performance was meant to be a duet but when her partner doesn't attend the sangeet, Khushi is stuck standing alone on stage. Arnav steps on stage and stuns everyone by dancing with Khushi. ArHi's performance was absolutely breathtaking! The song, dance and the moment was just perfect. 

4.1 Arnav kisses Khushi

During the mehendi, the lady accidently writes an 'A' in Khushi's mehendi instead of a 'K'. Arnav sees it when they have an argument but before he can get a good answer out of her, NK comes to take Khushi away. Later Anjali asks Kushi to get the shagun ke kangan from Arnav's room, Arnav gets his chance!

4.2 Possessive Arnav & Khushi kisses Arnav

NK helps Khushi select bangles. Arnav returns to Shantivan and sees Khushi and NK together. He goes over and sits with them. Khushi notices that Arnav doesn't like it when she is friendly with NK so she obviously tries to push Arnav's buttons by being extra flirty with NK. When some bangles fall down, Khushi goves over to pick them up and NK looks at Khushi and smiles. Arnav watches and gets  upset. He pulls Khushi's hair loose so that it covers her back. Later when Khushi sees the pool side decorations, she becomes happy and ends up hugging and kissing everyone there- including Arnav! 

5. Arnav and Khushi after Holi

During Holi, Anjali tricks Khushi and makes her drink bhang. In her drunken state, Khushi almost tells the family what happened between her an Arnav. Arnav comes in just in time to stop Khushi from spilling the beans. To pacify Khushi, he promises her that he will drink thandai. Khushi tricks him and makes him drink bhang. In their drunken state, Khushi asks Arnav why her heartbeat increases whenever she is with Arnav. Arnav replies by telling her that his heartbeat joins her heartbeat which is why it is so fast. How romantic!  

6. Arnav asks Khushi to move forward with him

After the whole kidnapping plot, Arnav is convinced of Khushi's innocence and Shyam's guilt. He finally starts to show his feelings for Khushi. I just like the tenderness of this scene.

7.1 Arnav tells Khushi that he loves her, dammit!



Arnav tells Khushi that they will start following all of the normal wedding events since they didn't follow any before they got married. He tells Khushi that they will start with the suhag raat and work their way backwards. Khushi stops him and tells him that their marriage isn't complete because they didn't take the saat pheras. Arnav gets irritated and takes Khushi to the terrance of the house and creates and fire there. When Khushi argues with him after Daadiji witnesses everything, Arnav finally confesses his feelings for Khushi.

7.2 Khushi tells Arnav that she loves him



The next morning, Daadiji creates a ruckus in the house. She tells everyone that Arnav and Khushi are not properly married. She even calls Buaji to take Khushi home. Arnav comes in at the right moment and saves the day. He tells everyone that he is ready to marry Khushi all over again just so everyone is satisfied. Just before Khushi leaves, she comes back to tell Arnav how she feels about him. I just love the way Khushi tells Arnav how she feels by repeating what Arnav told her the previous evening. She is just too cute!

8. Arnav steals Khushi away from the engagement party

Daadiji informs Arnav that he will not be allowed to see Khushi after the engagement. So Arnav steals Khushi away amidst the engagement party to spend some time with her. What results in pure ArShi romance with a hint of comedy!

9. Arnav and Khushi spend some time together

Khushi forces Arnav to have a bachelor's party without fully understanding what it entails. When Khushi finds out about the things that happen at bachelor's parties, she decides to gatecrash Arnav's bachelor's party. Arnav assures her that he didn't do anything wrong. He tells Khushi that he has a surprise for her. He takes her to a projector room and shows her pictures of stars. Khushi is touched by his gesture. ArShi get to spend some time together before they finally get married. The chemistry in this scene is just off the charts!

 10. Arnav and Khushi get married

As a final stroke of her master plan to separate Arnav from Khushi, Daadji tells Arnav that it was Khushi's aunt, Garima, who ruined his parents' marriage. Arnav is in shock when he finds out. He leaves the house in a storm. Daadiji makes her way to the wedding venue and creates a ruckus. She tells everyone that Arnav will not marry Khushi. Khushi is adamant that Arnav will not abandon her. She stays on the mandak and tells everyone that she will wait for Arnav till he comes. Just when it seems like Arnav will not come, he appears and stuns everyone when he announces that he wants to marry Khushi.

Honorable Mention

After I came up with my top 10 scenes, I realized that were a few more scenes that left an impression. I watched a whole of ArShi love scenes, fight scenes and emotional scenes and finally narrowed it down to these four scenes. Here are the scenes that I feel need a place in this post. So in no particular order here they are...

Khushi in a red saree



Khushi comes to Delhi and starts working for Arnav's company. During a photo shoot, Khushi unknowingly messes things up. Arnav punishes her by making her model for the company's calendar. He gives her a skimpy outfit just to insult her further. everyone is shocked when Khushi comes out in a beautiful red saree. She makes an impression on everyone present including Arnav. In fact, Arnav keeps thinking back to this moment whenever he thinks about Khushi!

During the Diwali celebrations at Shantivan, Khushi sprains her ankle. Arnav leads her to the pool side and proceeds to massage her ankle to relive her pain. After her pain subsides, he then goes on to remove her missing payal from his pocket. Khushi is surprised to see that Arnav has her missing payal. Arnav puts the payal on and just when he is about to leave turns around and makes his way to Khushi. He almost kisses Khushi but is snapped back to reality when his phone rings. Oh the tension!

Flirty Arnav

After dancing with Khushi during Akash and Payal's sangeet, Arnav goes to see Khushi. Khushi thinks that it is Payal who came to call her and tells her that she doesn't understand why Arnav helped her. When she turns around to face Payal, she sees Arnav standing there. Arnav is amused by her behavior and tells her to make her way down quickly. It was really nice seeing Arnav's flirty side!

Arnav & Khushi sleep on the same bed for the first time

After getting married, Arnav and Khushi go over to Buaji's house for a few days. Khushi tries to show Arnav her world and watches in amusement as Arnav tires to adjust to the drastic change. Finally at night, they are forced to sleep on the same bed for the first time. What results is pure ArShi comedy!

So here you go. These are the scenes that made an impression on me. For all of you who want to watch IPKKND all over again, make sure to watch it in English on Life Ok...

D3: Sharon returns to St Louis... (August 2nd, 2013)

The D3 gang plan a special surprise welcome song and dance for Sharon. Swayam insists on taking the lead in the performance but Simmi and the rest of the girls refuse. Even the boys make fun of Swayam telling him that no matter what he does, Sharon will not appreciate his efforts. But Swayam refuses to listen and starts arguing with the girls. Just then Rey walks in and tells everyone that he has a solution for the problem. He tells everyone that he wrote their names on chits and will randomly pick a chit. The person whose name is on the chit will take the lead. Everyone agrees with Rey and as it turns out, Swayam's name ends up being on the chit picked by Rey. Swayam gets excited and gets ready. The boys congratulate him. Meanwhile, Simmi looks at the chits and sees that Rey wrote Swayam's name on every chit. Just when she is about to tell everyone, Rey stops her and tells her that Swayam needs to do it. She understands and keeps quiet. 

Sharon finally arrives at St Louis. She thinks about how much she missed coming to college and meeting all of her friends. She looks around and when she doesn't see anyone she thinks that Swayam wasn't able to solve her riddle. Just then a fan turns on and she hears a song. She watches as her friends welcome her with song and dance. She is completely taken aback and appreciates their sweet gesture. Everyone is happy to see Sharon back in college, especially Swayam. Rey too is happy to have his best friend back in college. Sharon thanks everyone for all of their love and their awesome welcome back surprise. Before she can say anything more, Swayam warns her to stay away from mentioning anything about Taani's departure. Just then Neha assures her that Taani's farewell went well and tells her that Taani left her a present. Rey becomes sad when he hears about Taani but manages to retain his composure. 

Later that day, Sharon goes over to Swayam's place to get her gift. Swayam is surprised to see Sharon at his place. He tells her that the present is in his room. Sharon makes her way to his room and sees her picture. She finds it really cute that Swayam has her picture. She also asks Swayam if he still has his 'Sharon Corner' in his closet. Swayam tells her yes and asks her if she wants to look at it. She says yes and takes a look at the 'Sharon Corner'. She notices a little card which reads - 5 things I want to do with Sharon before I die. Sharon asks Swayam about it but he asks her not to look at it. Meanwhile, Rey rehearses in the rehearsal hall by himself. After a while he figures that he wants to talk to Sharon as he hasn't been able to talk to her for a while. He calls Sharon and asks her if they can meet but Sharon tells him that she is with Swayam. After a while Aditya makes his way to rehearsal hall. Rey tells Aditya that Sharon and Swayam are both his best friends. He even tells Aditya about their relationship. Aditya figures that he can use the romantic angle to finally break ReYam's friendship.

Will he succeed? Will Swayam be able to se through Aditya's plans? Let's see... 

D3: The D3 gang plan a surprise welcome for Sharon... (August 1st, 2013)

Aditya tells Swayam that Rey recommended his name for the lead backup dancer. He tells Swayam that only if something happened to Rey would he be able to dance in the lead position. Swayam listens to Aditya and tells him that he is okay with being the backup dancer for Rey. Aditya asks Swayam why he is letting Rey dominate him. Swayam replies that he is happy being where he is. Aditya tries to get a negative reactions out of Swayam but fails. Swayam on the other hand observes Aditya and suspects his intentions. Meanwhile, Rey takes the rest of the D3 gang to the cafeteria and feeds them till their stuffed! He hopes that Swayam and Aditya can talk without any distractions. Swayam gets a call from Sharon and excuses himself to take her call. Sharon tells him that she has a riddle for him and once he figures out what it means, he will be very excited. 

After talking to Sharon, Swayam heads to the cafeteria. He sees the D3 gang eating there and tells them to head to the rehearsal hall to prepare for the music video. The gang slowly make their way out. Rey gets a hold of Swayam and asks him how the meeting with Aditya went. Swayam tells Rey that he is unsure about things. Rey assures Swayam that he trusts Aditya and that everything will be alright. Rey begs Swayam to support him because he doesn't want to lose this opportunity. He confesses that this is the first time he feels motivated to move forward since Taani left. Swayam understands Rey's sentiments and assures him that he will keep supporting him. Meanwhile, the D3 gang make their way to rehearsal hall. They are surprised to see Aditya there. Aditya tells them to present solo performances. The gang tell him that they will not be able to perform right away because Rey overfed them. Aditya tries to cast doubts about Rey's intentions once again and leaves. 

The gang meet Rey and Swayam. They suspect Rey again but their suspicions are erased when Rey assures them that he was not aware of Aditya's plans. The team tell him that they need to think of concepts and themes for the music video and present them to Aditya as soon as possible. While the team brainstorms about ideas, Swayam gets to work trying to figure out what Sharon's riddle means. He finally figures out that Sharon will be coming back to St Louis the next day. Everyone is excited to find out that Sharon will finally be returning. They plan a surprise dance routine to welcome her back. Can't wait to see SwaRon back together!

How will Sharon react? Will she be happy? Will Swayam share his doubts about Aditya with Sharon? Let's see...  

D3: Aditya tries to create a rift between ReYam... (July 31st, 2013)

Swayam motivates the D3 gang to believe in Rey. He urges them to stay together and keep their unity. The team agrees and decides to follow Rey. On the other hand, Rey tries to contact Aditya to apologize for missing the meeting. Aditya ignores his calls but finally answers. Aditya pretends to be concerned for the team and their well-being. He asks Rey about Swayam and finds out that ReYam are best friends. He conspires against them and vows to break their friendship. Rey meets the gang and tells them about the phone call. He tells Swayam that Aditya understood the situation and did not yell at Rey for the meeting. The team change their opinion of Aditya. The team vow to support Aditya wholeheartedly. Swayam listens to everything but isn't convinced. He suspects Aditya is up to no good. 

Aditya comes to St Louis to meet with Rey. He asks Rey to suggest a second lead dancer. Rey suggests Swayam since he is the captain of the dance team. He even mentions that Swayam is a brilliant choreographer. Aditya listens to Rey and tells him that he will personally talk to Swayam. Just then Swayam walks in. Rey rushes out of the rehearsal hall and tells Swayam that Aditya wants to talk to him personally. Swayam wonders what Aditya wants to talk to him about. Rey sees the rest of the gang headed for the rehearsal hall and stops them from going in.

What will Aditya's next move be? Will be be able to create a rift between ReYam? Let's see...

D3: Rey apologizes to the D3 gang... (July 30th, 2013)

Swayam meets Rey after the press conference. Rey explains that he didn't know about any of the announcements that were made at the press conference. Swayam assures Rey that he trusts him but tells him that the team was very hurt by what happened. He also tells him that team left the college. Rey wonders how he can get back into their good graces. Swayam suggests that he talk to the team the next morning. Aditya overhears their conversation. He then calls Rey and tells him that he wants to talk to him alone. Just as Swayam is about leave, Rey stops him and steps outside to speak with Aditya. Aditya tells Rey to meet him at his office the next morning to discuss strategies now that the press conference is over. When Rey tries to protest, Aditya advices Rey to focus on his career and nothing else. Swayam overhears Aditya telling Rey about the meeting. After Rey leaves, Aditya sees Swayam and smiles at him and leaves. 

The next morning Swayam waits for Rey at the college gate. He hopes that Rey comes to college and pacifies the team rather than meeting with Aditya. When he sees Rey he tells him that the team is very upset and he has to do something special to make them feel better. Rey thinks about a plan. He makes an announcement on the college intercom and apologizes to his friends for what happened. He also sends a band and cheerleaders to the classroom and apologizes to them. The professor is not amused and sends everyone to the VP's cabin. The VP expresses his displeasure and yells at the group for being unprofessional. Sharon calls the VP and begs him not to detain the group. The VP agrees and lets the group go with a warning. As they leave the VP's cabin, Swayam asks everyone to assemble in the rehearsal hall. 

Rey explains to everyone that he did not know about anything that happened at the press conference. He assures them that Aditya had not told him about what was going to happen. He was just as surprised as they were. Swayam steps up and defends Rey. He tells the team that if Rey wasn't concerned about them he wouldn't be here talking to them. He tells the team that Rey had an important meeting with Aditya but he chose to be with his friends. After Rey confirms about the meeting, the D3 gang finally believe him and forgive him. Meanwhile, Aditya waits for Rey. When he hears a knock on his door, he thinks that Rey finally came but it turns out to be one of the boys who started the fight at Smaash. So Aditya paid the boys to create the ruckus at Smaash. The boys makes a comment about the group's unity. Aditya resolves to break up ReYam's friendship since Rey took Swayam's suggestion rather than meeting with him.

Will Aditya succeed in creating a rift between ReYam? How will the team react to Aditya after the press conference? Will ReYam see through Aditya's sinister plans? Let's wait and watch...

D3: The D3 team are caught off guard... (July 29th, 2013)

The D3 gang make their way to college for the meeting with Aditya. They see Rey already there and wonder how they will act with him. They decide not to listen to him. Swayam hopes that everything goes well. Rey sees the gang coming towards him and thinks to himself that if they apologize for the behavior the previous night, he will forgive them. But before the gang can say anything to Rey, Aditya comes. He tells the gang that he has arranged an important press conference for the evening where he wants to showcase the group. The D3 gang get excited and wonder where the conference will be help. Aditya tells them that the conference will be at St Louis because he promised the VP that he will promote the college along with the group. Aditya asks Rey to ensure that the group performance is off the charts. 

After Aditya leaves, Rey instructs the group to meet in the rehearsal hall to practice their routine. The group reluctantly go to the rehearsal hall but promise not to listen to anything Rey asks them to do. Swayam tries to tell Rey that the gang is upset with him but is interrupted by the gang. Just as Rey asks them which routine they should perform, Vicki asks the group to focus on their etiquette. Rey watches in amusement as the gang practice sitting and getting up. The group watches in shock as Rey starts laughing. He tells them that instead of focusing on their performance, they are spending time on trivial things. Finally, Simmi suggests that they focus on the routine. She puts on a familiar song and the gang just have fun. After al while, Rey too joins them. Just as they are acting silly, Aditya comes in with Mr. Singh. 

The gang stand up when they see Aditya. Mr Singh questions Aditya about his choice. He asks him if this group is capable of performing a smashing number. He doubts Aditya's decision to promote the entire group. He tells him why he chose to represent the entire team when he only wanted Rey. The D3 gang is shocked to hear that Aditya originally only wanted to present Rey. They question Rey and ask him why they didn't them about it earlier. Swayam comes to Rey's defense and tells them that Rey doesn't need to justify anything. If the client liked him first then that isn't Rey's fault. When the team seems unconvinced, Rey apologizes for hiding everything from them. The team accepts his apology and get to work on their routine for the press conference. 

Aditya meets the team and wishes them luck for their performance. He tells them to come on stage when he gives them a sign. After he leaves the group, he assure Mr Singh that Rey will be the sole focus on the news conference. Aditya gets on stage and thanks the media for coming out. He introduces the D3 gang and signals for them to come on stage. When the group members take their positions for the routine, a spotlight comes on Rey. The others wonder why there is a spotlight on Rey when Aditya promised them that each of them will be promoted. Swayam tells the group to continue with the performance without creating a scene. During the performance, the gang notices that the spotlight never shifts from Rey. After the performance ends, the group leaves the stage upset. Swayam stays back and takes a bow with Rey. 

Just as Swayam and Rey are leaving the stage, Aditya calls Rey back. He promotes Rey while he doesn't mention anything about the rest of the group. The D3 gang watch in shock as they are sidelined for Rey. Swayam tries to assure them that Rey didn't know that this was going to happen but to no avail. They are disgusted by the treatment that they got on stage. They feel like they have been sidelined as Rey's back up dancers. Swayam tries his best to reassure them of Rey's innocence but to no avail. Finally Swayam goes out to talk to Rey. Rey tells him that he didn't know that all this was going to happen. He was just as shocked and surprised as they were. He tells Swayam that Aditya still has one more announcement to make. He asks Swayam to bring everyone back on stage for the final announcement. 

Rey tries to talk to Aditya about what happened but Aditya tells him that the group was unprofessional by the way they acted. Swayam goes back to the gang and tells them Rey was not aware that all this would happen. He begs them to give Rey the benefit of the doubt and go back out. He tells them that their behavior was not professional and they should go back out. The team reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile, Aditya makes an announcement about the team's official new name. Rey asks if Aditya can wait till the team comes back but Aditya tells him that they don't have any more time. The team arrive on stage just as the team's new name is revealed as Reyzzor's. The team is shocked by the name change. They are convinced that Rey's deceived them.

Has Aditya succeeded in separating Rey from the group? How will the D3 gang react after witnessing the debacle at the press conference? Will Swayam figure out Aditya's true intentions before things get worse?
