Favorite Top 10 Dances: Shakti Mohan & Kunwar Amarjeet Singh aka Amar

Shakti Mohan and Kunwar Amarjeet Singh were thrust into our lives through Dance India Dance Season 2. Both of them were part of Terence Ki Toli and week after week wowed the audience with their heartfelt performances. After working together in Dance India Dance, Amar and Shakti came together once more. They both starred in Dil Dostii Dance, a dance based youth show. This time he audience got to see Amar and Shakti not just dance but also act. It was really sad when Shakti decided to leave the show to pursue further training in dancing. Regardless, the two of them share an undeniable chemistry and understanding for each other. Here is a look at my favorite performance. So in no particular order here they are...

Khuda Jaane on Dance India Dance

This was their first performance on the show. They stole the hearts of the judges and made their way into the hearts of millions of fans. Amar and Shakti were perfect in this song. Their every move was full of emotions and conveyed a clear story.

Aankhon Ki Gustakiyan on Dance India Dance

This performance was for the Salman Khan special episode. Along with the dancing, I like the choreography had a bit of romance and mischief. Shakti and Amar were a treat to watch.

Tu Hi Tu on Dance India Dance

Amar and Shakti performed the Paso Doble together. They did an amazing job and totally justified the dance. They had aggression, power, passion and loads of chemistry. This has got to be the best Paso Doble ever performed on Dance India Dance till date.

Dhak Dhak on Dance India Dance

This was the first time Amar and Shakti ever performed a sensuous routine. They looked like they were completely at ease with each other. And once again, their chemistry was just mind blowing! Shakti was awesome playing Madhuri and Amar totally rocked his Anil Kapoor role.

Bheegi Bheegi on Dance India Dance

This was an emotional performance. Shakti and Amar raw emotions really touched my heart. They performed the routine beautifully. I especially loved Amar's acting in this routine. He played the part of a wounded/disfigured warrior perfectly.

Jiye Kyun on Footloose

Once again Amar and Shakti performed an emotional routine. This one had a bit of fighting, romance, passion and of course chemistry. The choreography matched the song perfectly. Shakti and Amar were completely in sync with each other.

Woh Thi Hum The on Dil Dostii Dance

This performance took place in the show. The characters, Rey and Kriya, had their first dance together. After this first dance, Rey realizes that he like Kriya. Amar and Shakti were fabulous in this routine. The most impressive part is that this entire routine was shot in one take!

Roop Tera Mastana on Dil Dostii Dance

This performance happened to be Shakti and Amar's second sensuous act together. I really like the way that this routine was choreographed. It was sensuous without being overtly sexy. Shakti was just perfect and Amar was charming, as usual.

In Lamhon Ke Damaan Mein on Dil Dostii Dance

This sequence takes place when Kriya finally lets Rey know how she feels about him. Amar and Shakti are so awesome in this sequence. They are perfectly in sync and dance beautifully. Shakti is so innocent yet sexy in this number.

Haye Rama on Dil Dostii Dance

And last but not the least, I had to include the most sexiest Amar and Shakti sequence ever. Although this is a dream sequence, Amar and Shakti enacted it perfectly. This one doesn't have any overt dances but their expressions and movements are more than a dance. Once again their amazing chemistry is undeniable.

So here they are my top 10 favorite dances by Amar and Shakti. Hopefully we will get to see them work together more often in the future. I know all of their fans want to see them dance together and I'm sure that if the right opportunity present itself, Shakti and Amar will come back together and set the stage on fire with their amazing partnership, undeniable chemistry and unmistakable talent.

Daily Update: D3, March 27th, 2013

After reading all those negative comments about her on the college website, Taani starts thinking that she needs to have more control over the dance team to prove her mettle. As a result she starts say things and doing things which make the dance team start to resent her.

After the outburst in the projector room, Rey, Swayam, Sharon and rest of the dance team go to the rehearsal hall to prepare a suitable e-audition video for NDC. Sharon notices that Swayam and Rey get stressed because the team is not able to come up with a suitable routine. She has an idea. She tells the entire team that the purpose of the e-audition is not to select teams but to see how good they are. she suggests that instead of coming up with a new half-baked routine, they can send their Indiafest finale performance video. The team unanimously agrees that the finale performance was their best group performance to date. Swayam agrees and asks the gang to send him all the footage they have so that he can edit the video and send it over. Everyone is glad that they came up with a solution for the e-audition problem.

Taani, on the other hand meets with the VP. He tells her that even though St. Louis has won Footloose, NDC is a whole different ball game. He tells Taani that there are very high expectations for the dance team. Taani reassures the VP that St. Louis will bring the NDC trophy home. The VP also advices her that since she is a non dancer, she should get more involved with the dance team and try to learn more about dance. Taani agrees. She leaves the office feeling even more pressured than before. She decides to check up on the dance rehearsals. She hopes that the preparations are underway but enters the hall to find the team members goofing around. Taani is annoyed by how lightly the team is taking NDC. She argues with Bharat and Vicki because they pass funny comments.

Taani then goes on to accuse Sharon of giving more preference to the D3 events rather than the college events because Sharon suggested that they send over the Indiafest performance video. At the rate Taani is going, I see a major Taani vs. Sharon battle in the future! She argues with Swayam because he didn't consult with her before he made the decision. Swayam, Sharon, Rey and the rest of the team are shocked by Taani's attitude. The rest of the team tell Swayam and Rey that Taani's attitude is getting out of hand. Rey realizes that Taani's attitude could pose a problem in the future. He warns Swayam about it. Swayam wonders if Taani's attitude is because of something other than the event.

Sharon calls Rey and asks him to help her with editing the e-audition video. Rey agrees. As soon as he's done talking to Sharon, Swayam calls. Swayam tells him that he's worried about Taani. He tells Rey that only he can talk to her and lighten her stress load. Rey asks Swayam to help Sharon while he talks to Taani.

Daily Update: D3, February 13th, 2013

Let me start out this post by going into Flashback Mode. So last year, this time the Dazzlers and the Weaklings were getting ready to perform in the Footloose Eliminations. And guess who was the emcee for the occasion - our very own AVP! No wonder she seemed familiar...

Last year, Rey was going through a rough patch. While this year, Swayam is going through a really tough time. Last year, Kriya had to choose her friendship over her love and this year Sharon seems to be choosing her disease over her love. Both girls, Kriya and Sharon, were in a position where no matter which option they chose either they got hurt or people close to them got hurt. For both girls, their fight, if you will, involved dance. For Kriya - the fight to dance and for Sharon - the fight to stay away from dance. I personally like going into to Flashback Mode to see how much the characters have matured over the course of a year. So much has changed ever since Kriya left St. Louis and gave up her passion - dance. She not only hurt herself, but also ended up hurting the one person who was most special to her - Rey. It took Rey almost a Rey to heal and find love again with Taani. I just hope that it doesn't take a year for Sharon to realize that she will not be a hinderance for Swayam.

Now that things are in perspective, let's talk about today's episode.

The gang tries to make themselves comfortable in the storage room. The girls grumble because there is no room and the boys grumble because there's nothing they can do to fix the problem. In middle of all the arguing, Taani comes in asking for Swayam. When Rey asks her why she's looking for him, she tells everyone that she found blood on his t-shirt. Sharon instantly realizes that the blood is because of her holding on to Swayam on the beach when Rey was trying to pull her into the water. She feels bad about hurting Swayam and leaves the room to check up on him.

Sharon finally finds Swayam in the prop room. She sees him putting some sort of medicine on his injury. Just when she turns to leave, Swayam heard her and asks her if she needs anything. Sharon apologizes for hurting him. Once again Swayam asks her why she is trying so hard to push him away. She tells him that he is crossing his limits. What Swayam says next totally broke my heart! The poor guy is so in love with Sharon that he just can't live without her. His devotion for her is almost sickening! He picks up on the littlest things and yet Sharon can't trust him enough to tell him about her problem.

When Swayam asks her why she isn't dancing, she tells him that it is not his problem. He asks her if it because of him. She finally tells him that if she dances in the group performance it will prove to him that he does not mean anything to her. Now wait a second - when SwaRon became a couple, they promised each other that they would never let go of dance. So when Sharon initially broke up with Swayam she told him that along with him, she would also let go of dance. So imagine my confusion when she tells Swayam that she will dance to prove that he does not mean anything to her. Isn't she technically telling him that he does mean something to her?

Anyway, Sharon runs out the room after their 'talk' and gets an asthmatic attack. Simmi brings her the inhaler. She tells Sharon that she found out that if Sharon used the inhaler 4 hours before performing, she could possibly get through the routine without any problems. Sharon decides to take the risk. She practices for the group routine with the rest of the gang. Towards the end of the practice, she gets another attack. I'm starting to wonder will Sharon be able to perform? We all know that she does perform. I wonder if she get a huge attack after the performance. Will everyone find out about Sharon's medical problem? How will they react?

Here is a snapshot of today's episode...

Even with all the sadness and drama, I am glad we have this to look forward to. The D3 boys showed the world what they can do. Now it's time for the D3 girls are going to set the stage on fire! And from the looks of it, it's going to be a super amazingly spectacular performance!

In other news, I managed to find this little Behind-The-Scenes video of the basketball match filming in D3. Yes, I know it's old but it's fun nonetheless! Watch the boys show off their newly tanned selves!
