D3: Rey and D3 gang decide to start a dance academy... (November 26th, 2013)

Rey and the D3 gang talk about their future plans. They are all overwhelmed by what lies ahead. Rey suggests that they seriously think about their future in dance. They all wonder what lies ahead for them all. Swayam suggests that instead of thinking about what will happen 6 months later, they should focus on the now. The D3 gang agrees. Meanwhile, in New York, Kriya gets a special package from Swayam for her birthday. She opens the package and sees a collage of pictures with the D3 gang. She is touched by the gesture.

Favorite Top 10 Dances: Shakti Mohan & Kunwar Amarjeet Singh aka Amar

Shakti Mohan and Kunwar Amarjeet Singh were thrust into our lives through Dance India Dance Season 2. Both of them were part of Terence Ki Toli and week after week wowed the audience with their heartfelt performances. After working together in Dance India Dance, Amar and Shakti came together once more. They both starred in Dil Dostii Dance, a dance based youth show. This time he audience got to see Amar and Shakti not just dance but also act. It was really sad when Shakti decided to leave the show to pursue further training in dancing. Regardless, the two of them share an undeniable chemistry and understanding for each other. Here is a look at my favorite performance. So in no particular order here they are...

Khuda Jaane on Dance India Dance 

This was their first performance on the show. They stole the hearts of the judges and made their way into the hearts of millions of fans. Amar and Shakti were perfect in this song. Their every move was full of emotions and conveyed a clear story.

Aankhon Ki Gustakiyan on Dance India Dance

This performance was for the Salman Khan special episode. Along with the dancing, I like the choreography had a bit of romance and mischief. Shakti and Amar were a treat to watch.

Tu Hi Tu on Dance India Dance

Amar and Shakti performed the Paso Doble together. They did an amazing job and totally justified the dance. They had aggression, power, passion and loads of chemistry. This has got to be the best Paso Doble ever performed on Dance India Dance till date.

Dhak Dhak on Dance India Dance

This was the first time Amar and Shakti ever performed a sensuous routine. They looked like they were completely at ease with each other. And once again, their chemistry was just mind blowing! Shakti was awesome playing Madhuri and Amar totally rocked his Anil Kapoor role.

Bheegi Bheegi on Dance India Dance

This was an emotional performance. Shakti and Amar raw emotions really touched my heart. They performed the routine beautifully. I especially loved Amar's acting in this routine. He played the part of a wounded/disfigured warrior perfectly.

Jiye Kyun on Footloose

Once again Amar and Shakti performed an emotional routine. This one had a bit of fighting, romance, passion and of course chemistry. The choreography matched the song perfectly. Shakti and Amar were completely in sync with each other.

Woh Thi Hum The on Dil Dostii Dance

This performance took place in the show. The characters, Rey and Kriya, had their first dance together. After this first dance, Rey realizes that he like Kriya. Amar and Shakti were fabulous in this routine. The most impressive part is that this entire routine was shot in one take!

Roop Tera Mastana on Dil Dostii Dance

This performance happened to be Shakti and Amar's second sensuous act together. I really like the way that this routine was choreographed. It was sensuous without being overtly sexy. Shakti was just perfect and Amar was charming, as usual.

In Lamhon Ke Damaan Mein on Dil Dostii Dance

This sequence takes place when Kriya finally lets Rey know how she feels about him. Amar and Shakti are so awesome in this sequence. They are perfectly in sync and dance beautifully. Shakti is so innocent yet sexy in this number.

Haye Rama on Dil Dostii Dance

And last but not the least, I had to include the most sexiest Amar and Shakti sequence ever. Although this is a dream sequence, Amar and Shakti enacted it perfectly. This one doesn't have any overt dances but their expressions and movements are more than a dance. Once again their amazing chemistry is undeniable.

So here they are my top 10 favorite dances by Amar and Shakti. Hopefully we will get to see them work together more often in the future. I know all of their fans want to see them dance together and I'm sure that if the right opportunity present itself, Shakti and Amar will come back together and set the stage on fire with their amazing partnership, undeniable chemistry and unmistakable talent.

D3: Aditya vows to ruin Swayam and Sharon's relationship... (August 15th, 2013)

I'm having a difficult time finding the full video for this episode so I'm not going to be writing an update for this episode. From the snippet it is obvious that Aditya has decided to put a dent in SwaRon's relationship. I think he wants to distract Swayam so that he doesn't figure out his next move. Rey as usual falls prey to Aditya's tricks and misunderstands his friends. The D3 gang on the other hand are trying very hard to figure out why Rey isn't standing up for them or realizing Aditya's plans.

D3: Aditya comes to St Louis to give Rey his final decision... (July 23rd, 2013)

Aditya disagrees with Rey's condition. He clearly tells him that he only wants to represent him and not the entire team. Rey stands his ground and tells Aditya that it's either all of them or none of them. Aditya listens to Rey while he tries to convince him that managing the entire team is a much better deal for him rather than just managing Rey. Finally Aditya tells Rey that he will meet him at St Louis the next day to give him his final decision. Rey hopes that Aditya agrees to manage the entire team. He tries to think about what he should do about the meeting. Meanwhile, Swayam talks to Sharon about how she is feeling. Sharon tells him that she has chicken pox boils on her face. She also tells him that he will never understand how she feels because of the boils. Swayam decides to do something to try to understand how Sharon feels. 

The next day, Swayam goes to college early. He puts on fake teeth and boils on his face to make himself ugly. He hopes that he can understand Sharon's apprehension. Rey bumps into Swayam in the locker room but doesn't recognize him. Swayam is glad that his disguise is working. Rey calls Swayam to tell him about the meeting with Aditya Khurrana. When Swayam's phone rings, Rey finally recognizes Swayam in his disguise. Rey tells him that Aditya Khurrana is in St Louis and needs to meet the entire team. He asks Swayam to arrange a meeting since he wants Aditya to meet with the entire team and not just him. He also asks Swayam about the disguise. Swayam tells him that he put on the disguise to feel what Sharon is feeling because of her chicken pox. 

Swayam reaches class late. He asks for permission to enter the class but the professor does not give it to him. The D3 gang look at the disguised Swayam and are disgusted. They make fun of his altered appearance. Swayam is glad that they did not recognize him. When the class ends, Swayam realizes that he needs to alert the team about Aditya's presence in college. Swayam talks to the professor and pretends to ask him if Aditya Khurrana is planning to attend St Louis because he's meeting the VP two days in a row. The D3 gang overhear Swayam and make their way to the VP cabin. Meanwhile, Aditya meets with the VP and tries to convince him to talk to Rey about letting go of the team. The VP refuses. He tells Aditya that he has already tried to convince Rey to take up the deal. He also tells Aditya that he can't tell Rey to forget about the D3 gang. 

What will Aditya do next? Will Rey be able to convince Aditya to represent the entire team? Will the D3 gang impress Aditya? Let's see...

So here's the interview with Palki and the D3 gang about Taani's exit. Palki explains why the creative team came up with the decision to end Taani's character. Although, I guess if the story demands it, Taani can make a return...

Here's an interview of Vrinda where she requests all of her fans to continue to support D3 and keep watching the show. She also thanks her fans for all the love that she has been showered with during her stint in Dil Dostii Dance. I wish Vrinda all the best for the future...

Daily Update: D3, 22nd March, 2013

Swayam leaves Rey on the locker room and makes his way to the rehearsal hall. He wants to book it for rehearsals for NDC but when he gets there he sees Sharon putting up a sign that the room is booked for D3's rehearsal. Taani sees this and gets upset at Swayam for not booking the rehearsal hall when she told him to. Swayam apologizes to her and talks to Sharon about using the hall for NDC rehearsals since D3 doesn't have any offers. Sharon obliges. She tells Swayam that since D3 doesn't have any offers, the NDC rehearsals are more important. 

The boys watch what happens from the corridor. They are surprised to see Sharon agreeing with Swayam. They are also surprised to see Taani all worked up. They wonder if that has to with her argument with Rey. The next morning, the boys notice that Rey seems out of touch during the rehearsals. They plan to cheer him up. They make Swayam promise that he will help them patch up Rey and Taani. Swayam reluctantly agrees. Vicki comes up with a plan to patch up TaaRey so that things will be right with Rey and Taani after he has a nightmare with Taani and Sharon fighting over the team. 

The next morning, the boys go to the cafeteria. They meet Taani there and tell her that Rey is not affected by her. They tell Taani that Rey is a casanova and will just move on from Taani after a while. Rey and Swayam wonder why the boys are telling Taani such things but go along with it anyway. The boys even get Swayam to tell Taani false things about Rey. Vicki later explains that he is using reverse psychology to clear their differences! Oh boy! The boys dance for Taani. The D3 boys have the most fun! They are so funny and have the weirdest solutions for problems! They help TaaRey patch up. This makes me wonder though, will their difference finally get in the way of their relationship?

Daily Update: D3, 20th & 21st March, 2013

This is the 500th episode folks! Yay for Dil Dostii Dance going strong for 500 episodes! This is amazing! It must be a huge encouragement for all the folks associated with Dil Dostii Dance to be able to experience such amazing success!

Swayam goes to college thinking about all that happened the previous night. He thinks back to his reaction on seeing Rey in Taani's room. Sharon notices that he seems upset. She asks him about it and he tells her that he caught Rey and Taani together in her room. Sharon asks him why he is upset with Rey when he did the same with Sharon? Swayam thinks back to when he snuck into Sharon's room through the window when she was sick. He understands Rey's sentiments and thanks Sharon for helping through his dilemma.

In the morning, Taani calls the D3 gang and tells them that she has some important news for them. She tells them that St. Louis College is going to be participating in the National Dance Championship. The team is excited to hear about it. But when someone raises a question about what the group would do if a professional opportunity came along, Taani tells Sharon that they will have to manage it whereas Sharon disagrees. Sharon tells Taani that they will uphold their professional commitments. For the first time Sharon and Taani go head to head! Both girls stand their ground.

Taani later tells them that the VP has called Rey, Sharon and Swayam in his cabin. The VP tells them that St. Louis will be competing in the National Dance Championship not as Dazzlers and Weaklings but as one united team. He congratulates them and wishes them success for the competition. The D3 team meets in the cafeteria to appoint a captain for the team. Rey unanimously gets the group's vote to become the captain even though Taani suggests Swayam and Sharon. Rey notices Taani's displeasure at him becoming captain.

Taani doesn't want Rey to become captain because the captaincy would eat away at the time that they get to spend with each other. Rey tries to talk to Taani but to no avail. He wonders what bothered her so much. Oh Rey! Sometimes you are so clueless...

Taani finally explains to Rey why his captaincy is upsetting her. She explains to him that since he is the AGS and the spokesperson of D3, he's been very busy. If he becomes the captain of the dance team, he will not have time to spend with her. That's why she doesn't want him to become the captain. She tells Rey that as the GS of St. Louis she want the best possible candidate as the captain of the dance team but as a girlfriend she doesn't want her boyfriend to be too busy. Rey thinks back to all the times that he cancelled his dates with Taani because something related to the dance team came up. He realizes that he needs to make a sacrifice for his relationship.

Sharon and Swayam watch dance videos in the projector room. While there, they discuss about how the National Dance Championship will be structured. They also talks about how difficult it will be for them if they have to juggle their professional commitments while preparing for the National Dance Championship aka NDC. Swayam gets a call from Rey asking him to meet him in the rehearsal hall. Rey tells him to Sharon to come as well. Sharon and Swayam go to the rehearsal hall and see all the other members there as well. They all wonder why Rey called them for a meeting for urgently.

Rey comes in and tells the group that although he is happy they chose him as the captain, he will not be able to accept the position. He tells them that in place of him Swayam would be the best option. Swayam wonders why Rey stepped down while the rest of the team accept him as the new captain. Happy to see that he doesn't have the captaincy anymore, Rey rushed to tell Taani the good news only to be shot down by Taani again. Taani tells him that he shouldn't change his preferences just because Taani doesn't like them. She tells him that he should always listen to his heart. She doesn't want him to change just for her. Poor Taani! Rey is just so clueless at times! The guy just doesn't get it!

The rest of the D3 team talk about Sharon and Swayam. The Dazzlers mention that Sharon will always give their professional commitments preference over NDC related events. The Weaklings mention that Swayam, on the other hand, will give NDC related events preference over their professional commitments. The team wonders what will happen when they have to choose between their professional commitments and the student related commitments. Wonder what will happen when that day comes?! All hell breaks loose when Sharon and Swayam fight!

Rey goes to the locker room and wonders how he will make it up to Taani. When Swayam sees how down he looks, he asks him about why he dropped the captaincy. Rey tells him that he doesn't want to talk about it. The rest of the guys see Swayam and Rey in the locker room and ask them what's bothering them. They ask Rey if he has a problem with Taani. Swayam feels uncomfortable and leaves.  Rey looks on as the guys do stupid things...

Daily Update: D3, March 11th & 12th, 2013

The gang convince Rey to talk to Taani about postponing the due date of the deposit. Rey reluctantly agrees but is conflicted about whether she should talk to Taani about his professional matter in a personal setting. With all of this confusion playing in his mind, Rey makes his way to the fire exit where a patient Taani is waiting for him. Rey thinks about all the possible things that could go wrong and decides not to tell Taani to postpone the due date. He in stead tells her that he loves her and that she is perfect or him, much to the disappointment of the rest of the gang. After their meeting, Rey and Taani go to the cafeteria. Swayam and Sharon also make their way to the cafeteria. The gang eagerly ask Taani and Rey about her decision. A confused Taani looks to Rey but Rey tells everyone that he already told Taani about the team rejecting the first offer. The gang understand that Taani doesn't know about postponing the due date. Just then Swayam steps in and reminds Taani about her duties. Taani leaves and tells them that she'll see them later.  

The gang wonder about how they'll get the money to cover for the deposit. Rey suggests that each member contribute from their personal pocket money. Aashi reminds the Dazzlers and the Weaklings will not be able to contribute the same amount. Swayam tells the Weaklings that he can pay on their behalf and they can all pay him whenever they can. Bharat and Aashi disagree with him and tell him that they have to think of another way to come up with the money. Just then Swayam's phone rings. Swayam recognizes the number of Mr. Arora, the individual who wanted to hire the D3 team to dance at a birthday party. He wonders why he is calling him and not Sharon. Rey tells him that he added Swayam's name to their website. Swayam leaves the room to attend the call. Rinni wonders out loud why Mr. Arora isn't calling Sharon considering she is the manager of the team. 

An enraged Swayam comes back and immediately starts questioning Sharon about her decision to refuse the solo performance offer by Mr. Arora. Sharon tells him that it is non of his business. When the rest of the gang looks confused, Swayam tells them that Mr. Arora offered Sharon to dance solo for the same amount of money but Sharon refused. The team is shocked. Rey tells Sharon that she was wrong about hiding the offer from the rest of the team, especially when they are in need of the money. Aashi agrees with Swayam and Sharon calls her out. Now that was especially catty! Sharon tells him that she specifically told everyone that she wouldn't be dancing. She tells them it is her decision and she alone can decide if she can dance or not. She then storms off. Swayam runs after her. He pulls her in an abandoned class and questions her about her decision. When Sharon is adamant about her decision, Swayam calls her selfish and arrogant. He tells her that she will always be alone because of her attitude and leaves. A shattered Sharon finally decides to show Swayam why she can't dance anymore.

Wow! That was my first reaction when I watched Monday's episode. So many things happened! The SwaRon fight at the end was intense! Shatanu totally nailed it! It was nice seeing Swayam being more assertive and aggressive. Finally Swayam let out his mind and let Sharon know exactly how he feels. Also I expected Sharon to break down but I wanted her to accept that she is in love with Swayam. In stead Sharon just broke down because Swayam accused her of being selfish and arrogant. I'm glad that Swayam will finally find out the truth about Sharon's asthma. According to this article, we are going to get to see a lot of interesting things in future regarding TaaRey and SwaRon's romance.

So without further adieu, here's the snippet of Monday's episode...

Swayam thinks about all that happened between him and Sharon. He is upset that Sharon took such a selfish decision. Just then he gets a text message from Sharon asking him to meet her at St. Louis. Swayam wonders why she wants to meet him so late but he goes nevertheless. When he gets there, he sees Sharon dressed in costume. She dances for him and sure enough she gets an asthmatic attack. Swayam looks on in shock as Sharon proceeds to take out her inhaler and take a few breaths. Swayam finally understands why Sharon is so adamant about not dancing. He feels guilty about yelling at her earlier and calling her selfish. He apologizes to her for yelling at her. Sharon tells him that she didn't want to make him feel guilty. She merely was answering his questions.

Swayam asks Sharon about when she found out about her asthma. She tells him that it was after the dance camp. Swayam feels bad when he realizes that Sharon kept such a big thing from him. Sharon explains that she didn't want anyone's sympathy. She didn't want to be treated differently by people just because she has asthma. She especially didn't want Swayam to treat her differently. She finally tells Swayam that her disease has taken up such a big portion of her life that she doesn't have place for anyone else. She tells Swayam that dealing with her disease and her stress has left her no other option but to distance herself from Swayam. Swayam understand and tells Sharon that she will finally have the break-up that she wanted. With that Swayam walks out and leaves Sharon sobbing. Sharon thinks back to all the special moments she spent with Swayam.

Today's episode was intense and exactly what I wanted to see. SwaRon have finally reached an emotional point in their relationship. Swayam finally found about Sharon's affliction and Sharon admitted her fears to him. It was nice seeing Swayam as the strong one. He encouraged Sharon to follow her passion even though she has asthma. Now I wonder how SwaRon's relationship will progress now that the truth is out. I wonder what effect SwaRon's problems will have on TaaRey. I'm eagerly awaiting tomorrow's episode.

Last week was Shantanu's birthday so there have been a whole slew of his interviews. Here's one where he talks about how he was when he was a child. He's just too cute! And I have to say he totally rocks his Harry Potter inspired glasses!

Finally let me end this post with this message from CharMar. As you all know, CharMar were eliminated from Nach Baliye this past weekend much to the shock of everyone. Here's hoping they experience loads of success with Dil Dostii Dance and Best Friends Forever.

Daily Update: D3, February 21st, 2013

Swayam decides to spend the night at Sharon's since there is no one at her house to take care of her. Swayam sleeps in a chair by Sharon's bed so that he is close by if she needs anything. During the night, Sharon wakes up and admires Swayam as he sleeps. All this while we only Swayam admiring Sharon, now it's her turn! Sharon is sad because she has to stay away from Swayam. She apologizes for hurting his feelings. She gets very emotional when she tells him that even though she wants to 'love' him, she can't. By the way Shaton reacted, it is so obvious that she does indeed love Swayam. I get that she doesn't want to be a burden, but she has to understand that Swayam will never consider her a burden. I hope Swayam finds out about Sharon's asthma soon. This heartbreak is just too much! I want to see SwaRon as a happy couple! Enough with this emotion drama!

Moving on to TaaRey-land where everything is peachy. Taani sends Rey packing after the have their coffee moment. Aww! I've got to saw, they're scenes are totally aww-tastic! I just cant' stop myself from aww-ing whenever I see those two on stage. And I've go to say, I thought that Amar had really good chemistry with Shakti but now he's got amazing chemistry with Vrinda too. Way to go Amar and Vrinda for bringing the magic back on Dil Dostii Dance! While Rey is leaving, he tells Taani not to wait for Swayam. When Taani protests, Rey makes up a story to pacify her. Taani also asks him if he is prepared to face the AVP after the stunt they pulled by going to Nokia Indiafest. He tells her that as long they are together everything will be fine.

The next morning, Swayam wakes up early. He checks on Sharon and finds her sleeping. He prepares breakfast for her and leaves. Some time later, Sharon wakes up and sees that Swayam has left. She reads the note he left for her and gets emotional. She sees the breakfast he prepared for her and is touched. Taani on the other hand is frantic. She calls Rey worried because Swayam stayed out all night. Rey tells her not worry and that Swayam will be back. Just then the doorbell rings and it's Swayam. Taani yells at him for being out all night and not telling her where he was. Swayam smiles and tells her that he's happy to bear the brunt of her concern. Taani gets emotional and tells him that she was very worried about him. Swayam clams her down and both of them leave for college. All this while, Taani and Swayam never really had a lot of bonding scenes. Today's episode was different. Taani and Swayam finally seemed like brother-sister rather than two strangers living together. I hope to see more such bonding scenes. Shantanu is such an amazing actor. He performs so well. It's almost as if you can feel everything he feels. He is so easy to relate to. He has truly blossomed as a performer. 

The entire D3 gang assembles in college and wonder what horror await them courtesy Khushboo Ma'am aka AVP. Sharon loses her voice and Swayam gets concerned. They wonder if they will be suspended for leaving college. Rey, Taani, Sharon and Swayam are prepared to let go of their positions if they are told to. Can't wait to see what happens next week.

Favorite Dances So Far - D:3 Edition

As the name suggests, Dil Dostii Dance is about love, friendship and dance. I love the way each element is mixed wonderfully to create an entertaining concoction. So far I've faithfully kept up with the show and I've come to enjoy almost all of the dance performances. What I really like is that with each performance, the choreographers and the dancers try to create something new and better. I've also noticed that with each performance, the bar is set even higher. I can't wait for what will come in the future. But before that, let's take a look at my favorite dances so far...  

Dazzlers

• Footloose Audition

This was the first time we got to watch the Dazzlers in action and I must say they were amazing! I loved their entry onto the stage and I loved the way the props were used. I also loved their attitude. Hats off to the choreographers for coming up with something new and creating an extremely entertaining performance. 

• Footloose Finals

This time the Dazzlers were paying homage to Michael Jackson who is considered the God of dance. He had a unique style which so different from his contemporaries. He dared to be different and created a sensation. I loved the way the Dazzlers used his signature steps and combined with an Bollywood song sung by Kishore Kumar. Another innovative use of music and style. I have to complement Amar, Macedon, Sneha, Archie and Samentha for doing an awesome job.

Weaklings

• Footloose Eliminations

This performance is really special. This was Shakti's last dance performance. Shortly after this episode she quit the show. This performance was so different and unique. It was a mix of Bollywood and contemporary. I liked the way this performance showcased Shakti's dancing skill. No one can take her place.

• Footloose Finals

This was another heart-wrenching performance by the Weaklings. I loved the way the Kal Ho Na Ho theme was used. Each dancer was expressing their own frustrations with college life. I could totally connect with their emotions and frustrations. Once again, I commend them for doing something different.

Group Dances

• Chamak Challo during the Diwali Special

This performance was during the Diwali Special. I loved the way the Dazzlers and Weaklings came together to give an amazing performance. I loved the way the entire song was choreographed. The boys section was awesome and the girls certainly did well. If you notice, Sneha is missing in this group dance. She wasn't present in the Diwali Special since she was very ill at the time. Wish she was in this too.

• Charity Event

Talk about a group dance! This is certainly it! I loved the attitude, the song and most of all the dance! I've got to admit after I watched this, I wanted to get up and join them on stage! They make every step look so effortless and easy! Thumbs up!

• India Fest

This was the first group performance after Shakti quit the show. It was awesome to see the Weaklings and the Dazzlers come together again and create fire on the stage. I love the way they were able to include almost every popular song of the time and create an awesome performance. Sneha once again had awesome attitude and stood out among all the girls. Among the boys I loved ReYam's bits the most.

Face Offs

• Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 1 (up till 3:40)

This is the first face-off between the Dazzlers and the Weaklings. This face-off takes place right after their Footloose audition performance. I love the energy that each group has and most of all I love that they stick to their own specific style while they perform. For me personally, the Weaklings totally steal the Dazzler's thunder!

• Boys vs. Girls

This face-off is cute rather than fierce! The girls and boys are given a project - understand the opposite sex. The girls decide to do a dance presentation and the boys just had to do the same. The song choices for both are just awesome. I like how Shakti totally imitates Amar to the T! Although I have to say the Girls won this one for me!

• Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 2

This face-off takes place after the Footloose competition. The Dazzlers won the competition but the Weaklings were wrongly disqualified from performing. This has to do with Shivam's deviousness but the Weaklings are unaware of that and blame Sharon for their loss. They feel that if they performed, they would have won. I absolutely love the attitude of both teams. A special shout out to Sneha. Not only is she an amazing dancer, but she also has amazing stage presence. That girl can sure dance! She will definitely be missed. I love that in the end their love for dance brings them together. 

• St. Louisians vs. KR College

This one is my most favorite face-off. This one takes place after the rowdy dancers from KR College challenge the St. Louisans to a face-off during the Dace Fest. The St. Louisians totally put the rowdy KR dancers in their place and showed them that no one can mess with the St. Louisians on their own turf! I love how Rey, Swayam and Nilesh totally overpower the KR rowdies with their excellent dancing.

Couple Dances

• First KriYansh Dance

This one is special! This was the first time Kriya and Rey were dancing together in the show. I've enjoyed watching Amar and Shakti on Dance India Dance. Each time they came together, they set the stage on fire. I had high expectations for their first dance on the show and they certainly did not disappoint!

• Roop Tera Mastana by KriYansh

I absolutely loved watching this super sensuous and hot performance by KriYansh! They totally set the screen on fire with their rocking performance. As usual, Shakti and Amar were fabulous and their chemistry was out of this world! I have to say Shakti totally rocked the saree and Amar was his usual hot self!

• Hay Rama by SwaRon

Like Kriyansh, SwaRon too had their moment with this super sexy and sensuous number. Hay Rama is such a powerful song and I love the way the choreographers interpreted it. Sneha and Shantanu totally rocked this song and performance. I could literally feel the tension and the chemistry pouring out of them. Their intensity and strength made this a super special performance for all SwaRon fans.

Boys

• Kya Kare Kya Na Kare by ReYam

This song cemented the ReYam bond. Both boys were confused by the way their respective girls were treating them. Both boys shared their frustrations with each other. Both had no idea how to tell their respective lady loves how they felt. The song goes perfectly with their situation. Not to mention Shantanu and Amar dance amazingly! It's a treat watching them on screen!

• Maa Da Ladla

The boys perform this song at Prof. RDX and Nicole's sangeet. This is such a hilarious performance. It's so funny to see these macho guys dancing in such a feminine fashion. Also I love the expression on the girls' faces. Macedon is absolutely hilarious in this song and totally stands out!

Girls

• First dance by Kriya

This dance takes place when Sharon challenges Kriya to prove herself. Kriya does not hesitate and shows the 'Dazzlers' who she really is. She sets the stage on fire and proves to St. Louis that the 'Dazzlers' are not the only ones who can dance. I love Shakti's attitude and confidence in this song. She totally nails it!

• Gopala during the Diwali Special

This was another performance from the Diwali special. The girls were amazing in this performance. This was the first time the girls did something that was totally Bollywood. Hats off to Alisha for choreographing this catchy song. A special shout out to Samentha aka Simmi for her belly dancing bit!   

• Chane Ke Khet Mein by Neha

First off. let it be knows that this is my favorite Madhuri Dixit song. Madhuri is absolutely awesome in this song. When I saw this on D3, I have to say Alisha did an awesome job. She kept the steps similar to the original but I love that the boys are her backup dancers. The creativity is just awesome. Even though the steps are mostly the same, I like that they tried something new. 

Special Mention

• Bole Chudiyan featured on Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai

The D3 cast made a special appearance in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai for Viren and Jeevika's sangeet. It was awesome seeing the group do a Bollywood number. Alisha, Shakti and Sneha were absolutely amazing in this song. It was nice seeing Sneha finally dance an out an out Bollywood number. The boys were dashing in their shervanis. Here's hoping for more Bollywood dance numbers.

• Flash Mob by Rey, Swayam, Aashi and Nilesh

What an amazing performance and concept! Once the music starts, everything changes. The mannequins turn out to be dancers in costume. Rey, Swayam and Nilesh have an amazing entry. The choreography was awesome. The creativity and the ingenuity of the performance was just awesome. Hats off to all the folks involved with creating something so spectacular!

Daily Update - D:3, 24th December 2012

It's Christmas Eve folks! Hope all of you have an amazing Christmas and an exciting New Year! So for all you loyal Dil Dostii Dance fans, I have a present...

As I predicted, Sharon is finally going to be making an appearance sometime soon. I say we'll all get to see the new Sharon either by the end of this week or the start of the next week. I know for certain that Sharon will make an entrance after this whole basketball track boils over. For all of you wondering, the speculation is that Urvashi Gandhi, Dance India Dance Season 3 alum, will be the new Sharon. Here's a video of Urvashi in action. She's absolutely beautiful and amazingly graceful but I can't really picture her as Sharon.

As I mentioned earlier, it is all speculation. We'll all find out once Sharon actually makes an appearance on the show. Till then we'll just have to wait and watch...

Moving on, let's talk about today's episode. We're back to square one with Rey and Taani. As usual Rey is being his jerky self to Taani. I like how he constantly misunderstands her and then turns around and accuses her of not understanding him! It works both ways Rey. You don't take an effort to understand Taani, and in turn poor Taani has to bear all of your bad behavior. So the Welham's team finally arrives at St. Louis. As a loyal D:3 viewer, you know that whenever an other college team is visiting, they always turn out to be jerks. That holds true with the Welham boys as well. They are cocky meanies. Can't wait for the St. Louis boys to teach them a lesson!

Poor Taani has to juggle taking care of the visiting team and Rey's ego trips. Wonder when she's going to have her breakdown! Swayam on the other hand also has a lot on his plate. This brother-sister duo sure do work hard.

Daily Update - D:3, December 19th, 2012

As I mentioned in yesterday's update, todays episode is all about misunderstandings. Fortunately, SwaRon aka Swayam and Sharon's love story is on track. In fact I hope that the new Sharon will be making an appearance soon. As per this video, Palki Malhotra, the creative head for Dil Dostii Dance has already found a suitable replacement for Sneha Kapoor. So let's all cross our fingers and hope that the new girl is able to create the same magic that Sneha was able to create with Shantanu.

Moving on with the synopsis of todays episode. Rey and Taani think long and hard about what happened between them in the rehearsal hall and the conversation they had in the fire escape. Rey comes to the sad conclusion that love and relationships are just not meant for him. The first girl he 'loved' left him ad hurt him deeply (even though it was not her fault!). The girl he has fallen for now thinks he used her to vent out his frustrations. The guy just has no luck! Just to put all this love and relationships related self-doubt in perspective, this is what happened to Rey in that very same fire escape a year ago...

I wonder why he didn't correct Taani when he had the chance and confessed his true feelings for her. As usual Rey stayed silent and is now depressed.  Taani on the other hand, thinks back to when Rey yelled at her when she confessed her feelings to him. Just as I suspected, she just cannot believe that Rey would ever develop any sort f feelings for her. But I'm glad that she did notice that he was hurt by what she said. Hopefully Taani will be able to extract Rey's true feelings for her sometime soon. 

The boys elect Swayam to be their captain. Swayam is conflicted over the captaincy as he decided to join the team only to help out his friends. He feels like if he had a position that would make him in charge of the team, then he would be becoming just like his father. Rey is able to snap Swayam out of his thoughts and encourage him. Of course, ReYam share yet another bromantic moment. Awww! And with that here's a snippet of today's episode.

Daily Update - D:3, December 17th, 2012

We finally get to witness a romantic moment between Rey and Taani. And how was it you ask? It was short and sweet and to the point. It was done well and I have to say Vrinda is a good actress. She really impressed me with her acting. Amar too did a good job but he has had plenty of practice with Shakti to perfect his romantic swag!

Let's move on with the synopsis shall we...

So Rey and Taani share a TaaRey moment together. Later that night Taani thinks about what happened. She questions herself about Rey's intentions - does he really like her? What was the reason behind the moment? Needless to say she is utterly confused. Who wouldn't be after this happened?

On the other hand, Rey wonders if he hurt Taani with his behavior. He wonders if he acted correctly. The next morning Swayam leaves early for college but not before assuring Taani that she can share her problems with her. Side note - Swayam's behavior is bothersome. He is shown working out and forgive me for saying this but he looks like Bruce Lee - a lean mean fighting machine! The boys try to 'purposely' hurt him just so he joins their basketball team but to no avail. Just then Rey steps in and diffuses the situation.  

Swayam and Rey share a bromance moment after which Rey leaves. I have come to adore the ReyAm moments! They are so cute. Over time their friendship has grown tremendously. They understand each other better than any one else. They respect each other tremendously and work well as a team. Their friendship symbolizes the 'Dostii' in Dill Dostii Dance...

Daily Update - D:3, December 13th, 2012

Let me start with a spoiler alert - to all those who wanted to see the romance between Rey and Taani I'm sorry. You'll have to wait till next week to witness the romance.

After all this while, Rey and Taani finally talk about their feelings - be it cryptically. Taani calls Swayam and figures out that he is upset. When she asks him what is upsetting him, he tells her, "It's nothing" aka something major is bothering him. Slowly but surely she figures out that Rey talked to Swayam about basketball which is a touchy subject for Swayam.


Now I'd like to point out an inconsistency here - Swayam and the other Weakling boys had a basketball match with the Dazzler boys early on in the show. At that time Swayam didn't seem to have any problem so wonder if the creators are hoping the fans have forgotten about that little incident. Another thing which is inconsistent is that Swayam also participated in the Kabbadi match which was arranged by Karan Sir. Even though he let Sharon score a point, he did participate and had no problems. 

I'm glad we are finally getting more insight into why Swayam is the way he is. He chooses to be a "Weakling" because that is the only way he can stand up to his father. He doesn't like to compete and see people around him losing just so that he can be "The Winner". I feel like a lot of people can relate to that feeling. Speaking from my experience, I can say that sometimes I just don't want to compete. It's tiring to have to prove your worth every single day and with every single thing that you undertake. Focusing on Swayam again, I have to say its surprising that he attributes everything that he does to Sharon. I feel like Sharon motivates him to be a better person but she is not the only reason why he the way he is. Here I'd like to point out that Kriya was the one who motivated Swayam to consider dancing in the Weaklings dance team. She was the one who gave him the confidence to come forward and show all of St. Louis his skills and talents. But then again that's just my humble opinion! 

Taani comes to talk to Rey and whoosh Rey veers off the subject at hand. He is more concerned about Taani misunderstanding him and his intentions. Cue romantic music, the wind machine and some seriously emotional dialogues...

Daily Update - D:3, December 12th, 2012

Dil Dostii Dance is getting exciting this week. After a long wait it finally looks like romance is going to bloom between Rey and Taani. Although I've been a loyal Rey and Kriya fan, its about time Rey moved on with his love life. At first I didn't really like Taani for Rey but now I feel like her character has matured. She's not the girl who swoon at the sight of  her "Prince Charming" aka Rey. I hated the childishness the creators gave her character. She was a naive character who seemed silly and foolish. But now after the whole Shivam incident she has developed into a stronger character. 

Moving along, the AVP has challenged the students of St. Louis College to play a "friendly" basketball game with the students of Welham College. Now Welham's happens to be the best college basketball team in the region while St. Louis doesn't even have a basketball team. Seems like the boys will have to pull up their socks and start working hard to be able to match up with the "best" team. Vicky takes charge of arranging training for the boys since he is the "Sports Captain". The AVP has also instructed Taani to support Rey with his mission of creating a basketball team worthy enough to face Welham's team. Rey, as usual, picks a fight with Taani and says many hurtful things to which Taani states that from now on all communication between them will be strictly professional. 

Meanwhile, Sharon sends gifts to Rinni and Simmi but avoids Swayam's calls and messages. Swayam is worried and wonders what happened. He can't figure out why Sharon is suddenly avoiding him. He is also upset that because of personal reasons he cannot help the boys with their basketball practice. We finally get to know more about Swayam's family. Swayam's father is supposedly an all-rounder. He played sports in college - basketball and badminton. He wanted Swayam to be an athlete since he believes that is the only way Swayam can prove his worth. Unfortunately, Swayam despises competition and hence stays away from sports and anything competitive in general. This did help me understand why he always wanted both groups - Dazzlers and Weaklings to win every competition they entered in.
