Daily Update - D:3, January 7th, 2013

In St. Louis College, good guys do finish first! In today's episode we witnessed the thrilling conclusion to the St. Louis vs. Wellham basketball match. Of course, St. Louis was going to win but it was fun watching them stun the heck out of the burly Wellham guys with their dancing and innovative strategy. After Amar is injured, Rey has to step in. He is encouraged by the crowd cheering for him and his friends. Finally we get to see some ReYam action. When Rey and Swayam are together, nothing can stop them from getting what they want.

As soon as Rey enters, he scores a few 3 point shots for St. Louis. It was certainly exciting! The Principal's reaction to every basket was so endearing! He kept cheering the team till the end. The AVP on the other hand seemed to get more flustered with each basket. I especially love when her cocky smile disappears and is replaced with a worried frown. Finally in the end the boys won and now she has to give them what she promised them - the rehearsal hall. It will be fun to see the boys and girls get back to their dancing masti ways now that the rehearsal halls is theirs again.

Apart from the basketball excitement, Sharon finally made an appearance! She's officially back! She was just in time to see her man make the winning basket and lead St. Louis to victory. Good timing Sharon! She leaves midway during the victory celebrations to check out the auditorium - her temple. From her expressions, its easy to understand why she loves the stage so much. The stage gives her the drive to succeed and work hard. My first impression of Vrushika was that she seemed like a sweet Sharon. She didn't have any dialogues in this episode so I can't really judge her acting. Hopefully in tomorrow's episode we will get to see more of her acting.

Finally, the preview for the forthcoming episodes was super exciting. Rey is finally going to tell Taani how he feels. I'm hoping for some awesome TaaRey fireworks in the future, enough with all the roona dhoona drama shama. SwaRon too have their moment! I believe the Shantanu and Vrushika will totally recreate the SwaRon magic. Shantanu is just too good! I can't wait for Dil to reappear in Dil Dostii Dance...

So without further adieu, here is the snippet of today's episode

PS: Don't forget to watch Amar and Charlie aka CharMar on Nach Baliye 5 every Saturday and Sunday! Keep voting and giving them your support!

Favorite Dances So Far - D:3 Edition

As the name suggests, Dil Dostii Dance is about love, friendship and dance. I love the way each element is mixed wonderfully to create an entertaining concoction. So far I've faithfully kept up with the show and I've come to enjoy almost all of the dance performances. What I really like is that with each performance, the choreographers and the dancers try to create something new and better. I've also noticed that with each performance, the bar is set even higher. I can't wait for what will come in the future. But before that, let's take a look at my favorite dances so far...

Dazzlers
  • Footloose Audition

This was the first time we got to watch the Dazzlers in action and I must say they were amazing! I loved their entry onto the stage and I loved the way the props were used. I also loved their attitude. Hats off to the choreographers for coming up with something new and creating an extremely entertaining performance.
  • Footloose Finals

This time the Dazzlers were paying homage to Michael Jackson who is considered the God of dance. He had a unique style which so different from his contemporaries. He dared to be different and created a sensation. I loved the way the Dazzlers used his signature steps and combined with an Bollywood song sung by Kishore Kumar. Another innovative use of music and style. I have to complement Amar, Macedon, Sneha, Archie and Samentha for doing an awesome job.

Weaklings
  • Footloose Eliminations

This performance is really special. This was Shakti's last dance performance. Shortly after this episode she quit the show. This performance was so different and unique. It was a mix of Bollywood and contemporary. I liked the way this performance showcased Shakti's dancing skill. No one can take her place.
  • Footloose Finals

This was another heart-wrenching performance by the Weaklings. I loved the way the Kal Ho Na Ho theme was used. Each dancer was expressing their own frustrations with college life. I could totally connect with their emotions and frustrations. Once again, I commend them for doing something different.

Group Dances
  • Chamak Challo during the Diwali Special

This performance was during the Diwali Special. I loved the way the Dazzlers and Weaklings came together to give an amazing performance. I loved the way the entire song was choreographed. The boys section was awesome and the girls certainly did well. If you notice, Sneha is missing in this group dance. She wasn't present in the Diwali Special since she was very ill at the time. Wish she was in this too.
  • Charity Event

Talk about a group dance! This is certainly it! I loved the attitude, the song and most of all the dance! I've got to admit after I watched this, I wanted to get up and join them on stage! They make every step look so effortless and easy! Thumbs up!
  • India Fest

This was the first group performance after Shakti quit the show. It was awesome to see the Weaklings and the Dazzlers come together again and create fire on the stage. I love the way they were able to include almost every popular song of the time and create an awesome performance. Sneha once again had awesome attitude and stood out among all the girls. Among the boys I loved ReYam's bits the most.

Face Offs
  • Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 1 (up till 3:40)

This is the first face-off between the Dazzlers and the Weaklings. This face-off takes place right after their Footloose audition performance. I love the energy that each group has and most of all I love that they stick to their own specific style while they perform. For me personally, the Weaklings totally steal the Dazzler's thunder!
  • Boys vs. Girls

This face-off is cute rather than fierce! The girls and boys are given a project - understand the opposite sex. The girls decide to do a dance presentation and the boys just had to do the same. The song choices for both are just awesome. I like how Shakti totally imitates Amar to the T! Although I have to say the Girls won this one for me!
  • Weaklings vs. Dazzlers 2

This face-off takes place after the Footloose competition. The Dazzlers won the competition but the Weaklings were wrongly disqualified from performing. This has to do with Shivam's deviousness but the Weaklings are unaware of that and blame Sharon for their loss. They feel that if they performed, they would have won. I absolutely love the attitude of both teams. A special shout out to Sneha. Not only is she an amazing dancer, but she also has amazing stage presence. That girl can sure dance! She will definitely be missed. I love that in the end their love for dance brings them together.
  • St. Louisians vs. KR College

This one is my most favorite face-off. This one takes place after the rowdy dancers from KR College challenge the St. Louisans to a face-off during the Dace Fest. The St. Louisians totally put the rowdy KR dancers in their place and showed them that no one can mess with the St. Louisians on their own turf! I love how Rey, Swayam and Nilesh totally overpower the KR rowdies with their excellent dancing.

Couple Dances
  • First KriYansh Dance

This one is special! This was the first time Kriya and Rey were dancing together in the show. I've enjoyed watching Amar and Shakti on Dance India Dance. Each time they came together, they set the stage on fire. I had high expectations for their first dance on the show and they certainly did not disappoint!
  • Roop Tera Mastana by KriYansh

I absolutely loved watching this super sensuous and hot performance by KriYansh! They totally set the screen on fire with their rocking performance. As usual, Shakti and Amar were fabulous and their chemistry was out of this world! I have to say Shakti totally rocked the saree and Amar was his usual hot self!
  • Hay Rama by SwaRon

Like Kriyansh, SwaRon too had their moment with this super sexy and sensuous number. Hay Rama is such a powerful song and I love the way the choreographers interpreted it. Sneha and Shantanu totally rocked this song and performance. I could literally feel the tension and the chemistry pouring out of them. Their intensity and strength made this a super special performance for all SwaRon fans.

Boys
  • Kya Kare Kya Na Kare by ReYam

This song cemented the ReYam bond. Both boys were confused by the way their respective girls were treating them. Both boys shared their frustrations with each other. Both had no idea how to tell their respective lady loves how they felt. The song goes perfectly with their situation. Not to mention Shantanu and Amar dance amazingly! It's a treat watching them on screen!
  • Maa Da Ladla

The boys perform this song at Prof. RDX and Nicole's sangeet. This is such a hilarious performance. It's so funny to see these macho guys dancing in such a feminine fashion. Also I love the expression on the girls' faces. Macedon is absolutely hilarious in this song and totally stands out!

Girls
  • First dance by Kriya

This dance takes place when Sharon challenges Kriya to prove herself. Kriya does not hesitate and shows the 'Dazzlers' who she really is. She sets the stage on fire and proves to St. Louis that the 'Dazzlers' are not the only ones who can dance. I love Shakti's attitude and confidence in this song. She totally nails it!
  • Gopala during the Diwali Special

This was another performance from the Diwali special. The girls were amazing in this performance. This was the first time the girls did something that was totally Bollywood. Hats off to Alisha for choreographing this catchy song. A special shout out to Samentha aka Simmi for her belly dancing bit!
  • Chane Ke Khet Mein by Neha

First off. let it be knows that this is my favorite Madhuri Dixit song. Madhuri is absolutely awesome in this song. When I saw this on D3, I have to say Alisha did an awesome job. She kept the steps similar to the original but I love that the boys are her backup dancers. The creativity is just awesome. Even though the steps are mostly the same, I like that they tried something new.

Special Mention
  • Bole Chudiyan featured on Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai

The D3 cast made a special appearance in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai for Viren and Jeevika's sangeet. It was awesome seeing the group do a Bollywood number. Alisha, Shakti and Sneha were absolutely amazing in this song. It was nice seeing Sneha finally dance an out an out Bollywood number. The boys were dashing in their shervanis. Here's hoping for more Bollywood dance numbers.

  • Flash Mob by Rey, Swayam, Aashi and Nilesh

I wasn't able to find a full video of the performance. When I do I will update this post...

What an amazing performance and concept! Once the music starts, everything changes. The mannequins turn out to be dancers in costume. Rey, Swayam and Nilesh have an amazing entry. The choreography was awesome. The creativity and the ingenuity of the performance was just awesome. Hats off to all the folks involved with creating something so spectacular!

Weekly Update: Suvreen Guggal - Topper of the year

So last week ended with RC telling Suvreen that Vivan was sick. So the next morning Suvreen goes to RC's house with some homemade soup for Vivan. Now since Vivan is not sick, RC does not let Suvreen meet him. Instead he tells her that Vivan is contagious and she should leave before she gets sick! Vivan is disappointed that RC asked Suvreen to leave instead of spending time with her. So he comes up with a plan to help RC 'win over' Suvreen. He sends Suvreen flowers with a cheesy romantic note and hires musicians to sing her favorite song in the college cafeteria. The one thing Vivan forgot to do was write RC's name on the note. So Suvreen comes to the conclusion that Yuvraj is her secret admirer. Everyone is shocked and surprised when it turns out that Yuvraj is not her secret admirer.

Watching that entire sequence makes me feel like Suvreen still has feelings for Yuvraj. Even though she told everyone that she moved on with her life, she still has a soft corner for him. I'm starting to feel bad for RC. Poor guy doesn't stand a chance if Suvreen is still in love with Yuvraj. Besides I don't really like Suvreen with RC. He is too mature for her. I like her equation with Vivan but I don't think she can play the role of being a mother figure. She is more like his guide. Considering RC is going to ask Suvreen out for dinner, I wonder what will happen there.

Baby aka Jasleen is quite spunky! She is a complete opposite of Suvreen. She is a typical sneaky teenager who loves talking with her friends rather than pouring over books and sample papers. Her parents think she's taking a study break in Delhi but her actual purpose of coming to Delhi is to meet some dude she met online. Already sounds like a bad idea. She is childish and naive even though she tires hard to act mature. Jasleen lies to her mom and tells her that Suvreen and her went out to watch a movie. When their mom calls Suvreen, Suvreen realizes that Jasleen lied and gets worried about her well-being. When Suvreen finally finds Jasleen, this is what went down.

Suvreen doesn't understand why Jasleen feels like that. This is where some clarity from Yuvraj helps her figure out that Jasleen is tired of being treated like the baby of the family. She wants some space and doesn't seem to be getting it from her parents or Suvreen. She is tired of living up to her ideal older sister and wants to forge her own path. I personally like that Jasleen's character has a bit of grey shades is not a goody-two-shoes like Suvreen. I'm curious to see how Suvreen handles the situation and helps Jasleen understand that although she wants independence she isn't responsible enough to handle it.

Shifting gears, Yuvraj is trying his best to become 'hi-fi' so that he can impress Suvreen. Alisha is impressed by how fast Yuvraj is grasping all that she teaches him. I have a feeling she's falling for him. She always tries to be close to him. When Yuvraj suggests that she join Manu, Rathi and Naro instead of joining his group, she suspects that there is something going on between him and Suvreen. She starts noticing that he always gives Suvreen extra attention. She even asks Naro and Annie if there is anything going on between Suvreen and Yuvraj. They all assure her that Yuvraj and Suvreen are just good friends and nothing can happen between them. So it is going to be a RC-Suvreen-Yuvraj-Alisha parallelogram! Wonder when Yuvraj will finally profess his love to Suvreen...

Suvreen and her friends start filming their social awareness campaign in DPSC. They interview the students of their college to find out their views on eve teasing and women's safety. What they discover is alarming. Their own classmates have very regressive thoughts. For example, one student says that girls who wear short skirts like the bad attention that they get. Another says that girls wear short clothes because they want the negative attention. I like that this show is taking up such an important issue especially after the brutal Delhi Gang Rape case. I like that this show is attempting to change the attitudes of the youth in a creative way rather than being preachy about it.

This promo especially caught my attention. After the case became big news, the creators of Suvreen Guggal released this promo. I love the message and the spirit of Suvreen. Hopefully, this campaign is successful and helps shift the regressive attitudes of not only the students of DPSC but also the viewers as well.

So here is a look at what happened this week in Suvreen Guggal...

Daily Update - D:3, January 3rd, 2013

Let me take a moment to talk about SwaRon. It finally feels like their rocky relationship has come full circle. Last year around this time, Swayam and Sharon were at Shivam's party. Things went down and both of them broke down. Sharon felt cheap and Swayam felt cheated. I'm so glad that SwaRon got over all the negativity and are finally together. I can't wait to see their love story blossom! On the other hand Rey was falling hard for Kriya. I'm glad that Rey too finally has gotten over his heartbreak and found love with Taani.

All right folks, so just like all of you, I too tuned in to watch Sharon make an appearance. Instead, we saw Sharon in the preview for the forthcoming episodes. Oh well, as I mentioned earlier, I should have known that Palki would pull something like this! She just loves having us at the edge of our seats! Now I can't wait for next week, which means that she succeeded.

Anyway, moving on with the synopsis. The girls finally set up the music station for the game. As soon as the music starts playing, the boys have a renewed energy. The beats give them strength and renew their passion. What happens next is both very entertaining and hilarious! They boys use their dancing skill to overpower and stun the Wellham team. The Wellham boys don't know how to act or what to do when the boys start dancing. It's hilarious to watch their confused faces. Finally the St. Louis boys get an upper hand. They start scoring basket after basket. Rey and the Prinipal are excited to see the boys finally scoring. The AVP on the other hand is shocked to see their performance. All is well until one of the Wellham boys throws the basketball at Amar. With Amar down, Rey has to step in and lead the boys to victory. Rey has to keep his focus and make sure that the boys' effort does not go to waste. With ReYam finally working together, God help the Wellham boys!

I have a feeling next week is going to be super exciting! Sharon will finally be in an episode. Can't wait to see the SwaRon magic back on screen again. Also the most awaited TaaRey moment will also probably happen next week - Rey finally tells Taani that he loves her! Fireworks! I just hope that TaaRey moment is not a dream.

Without further adieu, here is the snippet of today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 2nd, 2013

This TaaRey drama had me wondering, what happened last year? Take a peak...

Rey is still hurt by his untimely break up with Kriya. It's completely understandable why he feels that way but I fell like now he has starting developing feelings for Taani and is finally on the verge of moving on. Just when things start to get back to normal, there is a new TaaRey fight and Rey and Taani are back to square one. Currently, Rey is not able to support his friends by playing because he is too distraught over Taani. I like that the previous episodes shed some insight into why he is the way he is. It gives his character depth. He's not just that superficial cool dude. He does have a sensitive side and he does get hurt. Hopefully, the TaaRey track makes some progress in the future.

So the basketball match has finally started. The Wellham team is confident that they will cream the St. Louis boys, after all they are the champions. The St. Louis boys are positive that they will put up a good fight and hope that all their hard work pays off. Meanwhile, Rey decided to step out of the match because he is too busy thinking about Taani to focus on the match. The boys are shocked when he steps down considering he is the reason why they have this match happening in the first place. Rey tells the boys that he will cause them more harm than good and asks Swayam to manage the boys and support them. I have to say, I love the way the creators are working around Amar's aka Rey's schedule. In this episode, he is present throughout unlike the previous few episodes.

The match is on the way and the Wellham team is beating the St. Louis team by more than 20 points! By the end of the first half, everything looks like it is going down hill. The boys wonder what happened to the girls. The girls were responsible for the music. It turns out that Rinni being Rinni, lost the CD. Now Simmi has to DJ for the second half of the match. Hopefully, the girls are able to set up the music on time to save the boys. Also, tomorrow is the day Sharon finally makes an appearance! Can't wait for that Dhamaka!

So here's a peak at today's episode...

Daily Update - D:3, January 1st, 2013

Happy New Year folks! Hope the new year brings you loads of happiness, prosperity and success! Hope this new year is full of surprises and transformation. Speaking of surprises, my prediction is coming true! Looks like Sharon aka Vrushika will be making an appearance on January 3rd, Thursday! Don't believe me? Watch the video below...

Like all of you out there, I can't wait for Sharon to finally make an appearance and kick-start the SwaRon romance! Wishing the D:3 team all the best and hope that that they continue to keep rocking!

So today's episode saw the beginning of the basketball match between Wellham and St. Louis. The boys worked hard and now its time to see if their hard work pays off. The Principal and AVP are getting ready for the match too. The Principal finally questions why this match is taking place considering St. Louis does not have a basketball team. He also questions the AVP why she decided to attach such a large prize to the game - Rs. 50,000 all while knowing that St. Louis does not stand a chance against the Wellham basketball team. She, as usual, brushes away his questions and tells him that discussing such things at this stage is pointless. Okay, this AVP character is starting to get on my nerves! I get that she wants the students to become all-rounders but I don't like her methods. She is practically forcing the students to walk on the path she has set out for them. Also in the episode after the flash mob, the Pricipal clearly tells her that the Trustees have decided to remove the 'Dance Ban'. Then why is taking this long for that to get into effect? I have a feeling Sharon will set things right and show the AVP her place!

As I hinted in my previous posts, Rey aka Amar is seriously MIA. I love the way the creators are using the tension between Taani and Rey as an excuse to keep him out of the episode. I have a feeling this tension will continue as long as Amar is doing Nach Baliye. I hope that even though he can't spend a lot of time on D:3, I hope there is some sort of resolution to this TaaRey drama. I want to see them as a happy couple already. Enough with all this moping and crying and drama-shama. BTW, here is the video of Amar and Charlie aka CharMar's first performance on Nach Baliye - start watching at 2:00 for CharMar...

So without further adieu, here's the snippet of today's episode...
